KEY RESPNSIBILITIES

I reported to the workshop foreman for the achievement of mechanical maintenance engineering in my section.

I replaced broken links (common and drives) on stoker beds and assembling new stoker beds for coal-fired fire-tube boilers.
I performed shift work, on-call and standby duties.
I manufactured plant replacement components on lathe machines, drilling and milling machines.
I was stationed at Murowa Diamonds to carry out maintenance duties in their Crushing and Screening plant, Dense Media Separation plant and the Recovery plant.
I was responsible for implementing the Rio Tinto Occupational and Safety standards whenever I was carrying out any maintenance work in the plant.
Responsible for generating computer-based work orders and Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis (HIRA) forms for the performance of maintenance tasks.

I carried out maintenance work on plant items that include centrifugal pumps of the Warman type, multi-stage centrifugal pumps (Grundfos type), mono pumps, jet pumps, hydro-cyclones, variable speed gearboxes, conveyors and vibrating screens.

I performed alignment of electric motors and either pump/gearbox by the use straight edge/dial test indicator to eliminate misalignments.

Work on coal-fired steam boilers, steam driers, calorifiers, washing machines and steam reticulation.
Work on coupling methods such as flange coupling, rubber tyre coupling, fluid coupling, spring coupling, universal joint (UJ) etc.

•Maintenance of plant items that include gearboxes, pumps, conveyors extraction fans, steam boilers (both water and fire tube).
•Repairing a range of mechanical components such as pneumatic valves and pumps, hydraulic valves and pumps, and a whole array of equipment used in pneumatic and hydraulic plants.
•Repairing steam reticulation equipment and water reticulation equipment.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN TO DATE
Participated in the installation and commissioning of UHT milk processing and packaging plant and an ICE-CREAM processing and packaging plant at Alpha Omega Dairy. I was the technical and resource person in charge of interpreting and integrating the equipment into the existing installation.
