• Head laboratory equipment & casework installations for KAUST research community.
• Manage E&PM equipment and casework installation team.
• Familiarize new PIs with lab equipment workflow and facilitate their lab equipment selection.
• Assess site & operational requirements for major lab equipment, such as NMR, MOCVD, PPD, PLD, ALD, PECVD, EBL, MBE, FTICR-MS, ICP-GC/LC-MS, GS-MSMS, LC-MSMS, TGA-MS, STA, SEM, PPMS, XRD, Probe Stations, FS Laser, Glove Box train, Optical Tables, BSC, etc.., prior to procurement stage.
• Evaluate startup budgets (equipment & modifications) for joining faculty.
• Order high value lab equipment for KAUST research laboratories.
• Work closely with PIs to prepare conceptual designs for new labs.
• Head detailed design process for new labs until final design (IFC) issuance.
• Manage and troubleshoot lab construction activities with E&PM execution team.
• Prepare lab project design & execution charters, scope of work, CRs, and facilitate their approvals.
• Pioneer, order, and maintain KAUST “Buffer Stock” for critical emergency construction materials.
• Assess technical evaluations & commercial bids for KAUST academic projects.
•Lead, operated, and maintained Wet Chemistry lab which is equipped with TGA -MS, Ion Chromatography (Conductivity, ECD, PDA, and VWD), TOC (combustion and UV Persulfate), CHNS/O Elemental Analyzer, Mercury Analyzer, TKN, and Voltmetric Workstation.
•Performed Analysis and chemical characterization of synthesized polymers, catalysts, nanodiamond, membranes, zeolites, sediments, soot, soil, and other solid matrixes using organic elemental analysis, FTIR, XRF, and thermogravimetric analysis/mass spectrometer techniques.
•Analyzed seawater, fresh water, wastewater and other liquid matrixes using ion chromatography, auto-analyzer, TOC/TN, TKN, and ICP.
•Analytical core lab quality control officer and developed the quality program for the lab.
•Conducted training courses in the field of analytical chemistry for students and lab users.
•Administrated, operated, and trained users on LIMS application.
•Oversaw the daily activities performed by the QC department and provided guidance as necessary.
•Assisted in the development, implementation, and maintenance of general laboratory operational systems in accordance with cGMP compliance.
•Took ownership of all analytical method development and validations.
•Coordinated equipment qualification /validation activities in order to be utilized in the lab.
•Troubleshoot and provided further technical support for method, material, and instruments including (HPLC-MALS, nutrient analyzers, TOC, UV-VIS, Hemox analyzer, and others)
