Cost Control Functions
Tracking and keeping close oversight on actual project costs through reported invoices, payment certificates and actual follow up for purposes of conducting comparisons with the corresponding budgets and Bill of Quantity (BOQ)
- Conducting regular and frequent visits to sites, auditing actual purchases in comparison to reported documents, ensuring the accuracy of all related operations in coordination with the Project Budgeting & Planning Department
- Preparing regular monthly reports and reviews of projects cost performance, providing all concerned parties with regular feedback and advice
- Providing expert advice on cost and budgeting issues related to current projects to project managers, conducting analysis of actual performance against plan.
- Following up on subcontractors work progress, ensuring that work is completed according to the subcontracting contract and according to the assigned cost structure
- Analyze material purchase orders compared to budget as part of the review process for the monthly reports.
-- Prepare the cost report on regular basis, reflecting the cost status of project through the cut-off date in which, estimating of costs based on progress and any changes since the budget was formed
- Review all direct costs posted on a daily basis.
- Analyze project expenses by trade and compare it to budget.
- Analyze material purchase orders compared to budget as part of the review process for the monthly reports.
- Monitor the status and actual cost for labors, equipment, subcontractors and committed cost
- Disseminate budget information to all operating groups, providing clarification and additional information where required.
- Review invoice status on monthly basis and highlight any major figures.
- Attend periodic meetings with the project management team to discuss the issues related to cost report (as a minimum on monthly basis).
- Jointly Prepare project Cost Plan and submit its monthly status report.
- Preparing actual productivity sheets and curves as to be compared with the budget
- Reviewing subcontractors contracts and monthly invoices .
- Setting out (marking the position of structures) and leveling the site.
- Checking drawings and quantities and ensuring that the calculations are accurate for the work.
- overseeing the selection and requisition of materials and plant for use in the construction;
- Planning the work and efficiently organizing the plant and site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines.
- Liaising with any consultants, sub-contractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project.
- Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labors force and monitoring the work of any subcontractors.
- Overseeing quality control and safety matters on the site, and ensuring that regulations are adhered to.
- Performs quality control and ensures that the works are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements.
- Inspects the works and issues site instructions as deemed necessary.
- Reviews and comments on the shop & As - built Drawings.
- Issues instructions to the Contractor to ensure the proper execution and control of the works.
- Provide input to the monthly progress report as directed by the Resident Engineer
- Checks contractor’s correspondence on contractual issues (variation orders evaluation, extension of time, claims, etc.) and provides pertinent replies
