Responsibilities and key figures:
Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission-critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes the feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to the customers of the department. Performs full supervision of Operations staff.

• Developing and maintaining IT Service desk policies and procedures.
• Ensuring projects are completed within budget guidelines and maintaining best practices for an organization's IT infrastructure.
• Direct all aspects of information technology systems within an organization, including computer software, hardware, facilities and security systems.
• Support the overall business continuity management process by ensuring, the required IT technical and service facilities can be recovered within required and agreed business time scales.
• Coordinate resolution of complex issues that involve multiple disciplines.
• Work with multi-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet the timelines and needs of the business.
• Manage and lead the effort to support and advance the migration of all servers (physical & virtual environments).
• Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware. Managing the vendors, purchase negotiations, long terms deals.
• Ensure quality server/storage deployments.
• Responsible for directing Disaster Recovery testing and auditing.
• Plan and manage all Infrastructure projects from conception to completion.
• Assist in defining and managing IT Infrastructure budget.
• Review all support agreements and assist in choosing best fitting contracts.
• Develop IT policies and practices
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Responsible for installing/maintaining MS Exchange 2007 & 2013, backup and restore the exchange databases and user’s mailboxes/emails.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and operational requirements.
• Establishes, maintains and manages user’s accounts.
• Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems.
• Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance
• Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
• Manages the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system.
• Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology.
• Responsible for the migration of servers that have been completed in 2016 at Head Office and Factory.
• Provide desk-side technical support to end-users. Identify, research, and resolve hardware and software application errors, password resets, and resolve logon issues while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Provide installation, hardware diagnosis, maintenance and/or support of the following equipment: PC, Mac, Mobile Devices, application software, printers, peripherals, as well as telephony systems and network.
• Consult with, or escalate to, vendor when solution is unclear.
• Responsible for timely resolution and updates with appropriate information and data.
• Remote technical support for end user’s devices.
• Develop and maintain applications, security, and network configurations.
• Deploy new computer hardware and computer operating system upgrades. Physically install equipment, data backup and transfer, configurations, application installs/setups, profile transfer, and preparation of old computers for disposal or redeployment.
• Perform phone switch and voice mail administration duties which includes adds and moves or changes of phone extensions and/or voice mail boxes.
• Provide data network support such as Racking, Cable Management and Switch Port Clean up.
• Familiarity with supporting (not engineering) TCP/IP, cables, IP Phones, workstation connectivity and printer connectivity.
• Diagnose, test, and repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop; and backbone).
• Tests the compatibility of new programs with existing programs.
• Evaluates expansions or enhancements to systems by testing the capacity of computers.
• Gathers data, evaluates options and recommends courses of action when working to achieve an objective.
• Tests new programs, compares programs and makes modifications in order to improve systems.
• Evaluates any software that is supplied by a third party vendor by testing compatibility with existing hardware and software.
• Loads software into a computer and executes necessary commands for testing it.
• Establishes hardware connections and executes necessary commands for testing it.
• Trains users, answers questions and interprets instructions in order to ensure that end users are familiar with how hardware and software works.
• Tests computer components to maximize capability.
• Writes operating instructions for end users.
• Documents hardware and software changes for future reference.
• Keeps operations and client information confidential according to company protocol.
• Evaluate new hardware and software to meet company requirements.
• Maintain inventory of internal licenses and track compliance.
• Help Desk support for users. Ensure that staff provides timely and considerate customer service to end users by fielding Helpdesk calls and resolving technical issues. Assist all office staff and instructors, both in person and via the phone.
• Creating user accounts and managing access control based on company policies
• Analyzing and identifying trends in issue reporting and devising preventative solutions. Expected to offer suggestions for any noted process improvements and develop the new procedures.
• Virus/Spyware Removal/Detection
• Hardware Problems, Computer Upgrades, Networking Setup/Diagnoses, Software Problems, PC specific Issues/Troubleshooting
• Ability to use, teach & troubleshoot Microsoft XP Pro operating systems, Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and Word) and Microsoft Publisher.
• Other duties as may be assigned by the department director.
