Developing film coatings formulations for automotive and aerospace applications. Developing and testing of solvent borne and waterborne based-coating formulas. Designs experiments to characterize the chemical and physical properties of materials. Conducting research on In-Mold Film coatings and adhesive Tie-Layer for Multi-Layer Films. Improvement of film thermal stability and film adhesion properties. Invention of thermoplastic polymers and flame retardant polyurethane films. Curing and crosslinking development of new polyurethane films formulation. Conduct lamination experiments using different films, adhesives, and curing conditions. Electrochemistry and Surface Coatings:
- Supervised undergraduate students and trained them to many types of electrochemical and surface equipments.
- Managed the electrochemical and surface equipments centre and computational studies.
Corrosion Inhibition Project (2012):
- Developed and characterized novel class of organic polyaromatic imines as potential organic corrosion inhibitors for steel and other metals.
- Utilized redox potentials, potentiodynamic polarization measurements and DFT calculation to prove the achievement.
Cross-linking polymerization by Click Chemistry Project (2010):
- Developed the first investigation to Control the alignment of disc-shaped TAPs on cross-linking polymerization based on the multi-click reactions at air/water interface.
Monolayer Alignment Project (2009):
- Investigated and characterized Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of discotic dyes.
- Controlled the alignment layer of Discotic compounds as face-on or edge-on orientation.
Electronic Properties Project (2008):
- Synthesized and purification of some organic compounds.
- Developed and established the first systematic study of measurement and prediction of the effect of structural changes on the electronic properties of two discotic models.
- A combination of experimental measurements and DFT calculations is a powerful approach for the search of new n-type organic semiconductors discotics.
- Discovered several novel n-type potentially discotic TPs and PCs.
- Provided a ranking of typical EWGs based on their potential of lowering ELUMO values.
Self-assembled Monolayers Project (2005):
- Investigated and characterized self-assembled monolayers of aromatic sulfenyl and sulfonyl chloride compounds.
- Utilized several surface equipments to characterize and prove the achievement of SAMs.
Electrochemical Reduction Investigation Project (2004):
- Investigated important aspects of electrochemical reduction study and chemical quantum calculations of novel substituted arene sulfenyl chlorides series.
- Rationalized both the observed change in the ET mechanism and the occurrence of the Sticky dissociative ET mechanism.
- Environmental Impact and Characterization of Heavy Metals in Vegetable Samples.
- Taught undergraduate analytical and physical Chemistry courses and managed Labs.
Dissertation title: Electronic Properties and Langmuir-Blodgett Films of Discotic Organic Semiconductors, under supervision of Dr. S. Holger Eichhorn, University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
Thesis title: Sticky Dissociative Electron Transfer to a Series of Substituted Arene Sulfenyl Chlorides, under supervision of Dr. Abdelaziz Houmam, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
