Leading a team to procure ground handling, cargo handling and airport services for Etihad Airways outstations in Asia Pacific (previously including Africa). Team was new to these categories of services. Coached and developed team to outstanding performance and results. Even though covering only half of the world, the team exceeded the department’s Y2015 target of US$17M for EY and US$11.4M for joint procurement, by achieving US$19.7M and US$15.1M respectively. Staff was shortlisted as CIPS MENA Top 5 P&SM Procurement Professional of the Year (Y2016). 2 successful projects were consecutively submitted to CIPS’ competitions and they won the Y2016 & Y2017 CIPS MENA Award for International Project of The Year. The only company to do so.

3 consecutive projects in 2016/17 achieved unprecedented cost reduction results:
-100% for a cargo handling contract,
-35% for a ground handling contract,
-91% cost reduction for a joint cargo and ground handling contract).


Joint Procurement for Etihad Aviation Group (EAG) ground handling. Working strategically with partner airlines’ ground and Technical Operations to achieve better value contracts e.g., B787 GPU and APU requirements.

Strategically combined station tenders by regions (e.g., Pan-India, Pan-Africa, Pan China & Hong Kong, Pan-Pakistan, NBO and DAR in Africa), with different categories and airline partners in same region / station (ground, cargo, lounge, technical, etc.), to leverage negotiation for best value.

Most proficient with SGHA and excellent contract management skills. Works closely with end users and Legal to innovatively change contract templates for ground handling, cargo handling, lounge, etc. Also works closely with Treasury, Tax Dept and Insurance to customize contracts for maximum value and minimize risk. Trained Airport and Regional Managers on procurement processes, strategic negotiations and how to interpret contracts.

Built excellent relationships with stakeholders, partner airlines and suppliers with constant and consistent communications. Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management with 3 key suppliers through quarterly meetings, adding to the effective management of supplier performance and getting best value from tenders.

In strategic and joint procurement, an innovative thinker who strives to change the game to achieve unprecedented results. E.g., turning a cost contract to a revenue-generating contract of US$ 3.4M, contributing to cutting station cost by 91%.
