Procurement & Logistics Manager Import & Export
(Supply chain)

+ Business development in the field of Furniture,
At KIT display and furniture (Khomaseya for industry and trade S.A.E)
Location: Giza, Egypt
Company Industry:
Display stands manufacturing facility + Interior design + manufacturing facility for all kinds of furniture,
(Office / Home / Garden / Hotels furniture) and trader.
Job Role: Purchasing / Procurement || Logistics Import & Export (Supply chain) + Business development.
2019 - Present.

Responsibility: -
Develop a centralized procurement program, implement procurement policies, procedures and operational frameworks with a focus to enhance company's value and efficiency.
Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate and implement long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and competencies.
Administer and oversee contract development and buying terms in the best interest of the company.
Create an effective procurement strategy in line with the company's standards and ensures that all resources are negotiated and acquired at most competitive market rates without sacrificing quality.
Maintain a constant movement of resources by developing professional relationship with vendors/suppliers.
Develop a database of vendors in support of procurement strategies including setting vendor qualifications.
Process and evaluate purchase orders; develop bids and proposals; and reconcile any discrepancies.
Meet regularly with respective departments regarding procurement for their understanding and/or recommendations to enhance policies, procedures and develop, communicate and implement new /revised policies, procedures and programs as needed.
Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and organization.
Develop, communicate and administer procurement team performance and development plans and appraisals.

Achievement: -
Database of vendors and suppliers increased by 100%.
Dealing now with new importing destinations and for export we are dealing now with new clients in (KSA, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Sudan, Yemen and Jordan).
As for the furniture field, acting as a business development manager, now our company market share in office and home furniture has been increased, and our plan to improve this business.
From 2019 to 2021, developing the wooden and metal sections in our factory by importing new wooden and metal machinery with total 7 machines and production line.

• Receiving requisitions from other departments.
• Survey the market and doing the required comparisons, L.P.Os issuance and international P.Os as well.
• Update vendors and suppliers list.
• Responsible of the international trading and doing the requested follow-up regarding orders lead time.
• Get the imported goods by the most efficient methods.
• Follow up the lead time and delivery date; follow up with the financial department to accomplish all sharing cases regarding L/Cs and money transfer.
• Have an experience in industrialization for several products related to office, home and hotels furniture and civil works as well.
• Finally, I'm in charge in the logistics issue (Import & Export) and the supply chain,
Have an experience in the international trading, as example we collect our goods from several destinations (ex-works from Canada, Malaysia, England, Italy, USA, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Taiwan, Japan, finally China),
Have an experience in exportation procedures, as export manager in the same company, we have delivered our products to UK, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE…etc.
• I'm involved in the Customs / Clearance along with the logistics mission.
• Lead the relationship with our international / local suppliers, to improve our business, and searching for the new products which serve our scope of work, to deliver added value to our clients.

Challenges and problems solving
During the last years of working based on projects, we have met many challenges and problems, and we have to deal with these challenges to reach the site hand over without any problems, and to meet our client’s requirements.
Import and export regulations changed many times and there are new decrees every day + production plans + client’s approval on finishes and colors…. etc.
My last international challenge at Ebony & Ivory was IBM project in Smart Village (Egypt).
it was a true international effort, products ordered with coordination between 3 destinations in different countries as one teamwork, all products shipped via air-freight from two destinations (Canada and Germany) in parallel to Egypt, contents of 100 workstations + seating + glass wall partitions, at the same time we start submitting the suppliers as an authorized suppliers to export their products to Egypt, it was a new decree taken by Egyptian authority, which we have to follow and deal with a bureaucratic system, and we have a very tight lead time and delivery date.
Finally, products delivered safe and installation accomplished as planned.


International fairs attendance & travel abroad.


Travel to Taiwan in a business trip, to make a deal with new supplier in 2011.
Travel to China to attend Canton Fair in 2012, to get new suppliers and to be updated with the new technology used in our field, then I made a deal to purchase new machineries for our factory during the exhibition, and got new suppliers to serve our needs from end products and accessories.
Travel to China to attend CIFF Exhibition in 2013 to get new agencies and new suppliers for accessories.
Travel to Germany in a business trip, to visit 2 factories and to make a deal with new suppliers in 2015.
Travel to Italy in a business trip, to visit 3 factories and to build new business relation with our new suppliers in 2015.
Travel to China to attend CIFF Exhibition in 2018, in this exhibition I made a deal to import industrial sewing machines from Germany, and it was a new step for our company to improve this section in our factory.
