As a financial reporter, I monitor the financial, construction and agricultural sectors in Southeast Asia and looks out for potential deals and trends that could affect M&A activities.
The job requires me to profile and interview senior management of top public & private companies on possible M&A deals, IPO plans and overseas expansion strategies.
I also occasionally moderate M&A panels during conferences and conducts market visits across Southeast Asia to meet with industry bankers and to report on upcoming industry trends.
I generate daily LNG price assessments based on market research and phone calls with market players and traders. I also work with a team of 10 people across different three time zones (Singapore, London and Houston) including other reporters, analysts and the sales team to generate the daily and weekly market outlooks for the Asian LNG industry.
In addition, I also attend various LNG conferences around the region (primarily in Malaysia and Indonesia) to gather market information and to build and network with industry contacts.
I was the Editor-in-charge of all web communication for International Enterprise Singapore (IE Singapore). Together with my team members, I helped formulate the company's web communication strategy, including the use of social media to improve customer retention.
I also created the writing style guide for the company’s various web communication platforms (eg: e-newsletters, email blasts, social media, website, powerpoint, etc).
In addition, my job also required me to Interview top local businesses on their overseas expansion plans and post them on the company's website.
I was the Editor for Islamic Banking and Finance magazine and the Assistant Editor for Banker Middle East magazine. In this role, I helped to formulate the two magazine's yearly editorial strategy, including monthly themes, interview targets and timeframe.
In addition, I also Interviewed top Islamic bankers to spot growth trends in Islamic finance in MENA and conducted market visits in the various MENA countries to cover industry conferences and spot industry trends.
As an editor, I was also in-charged of assigning and edit editorial contributions from freelance writers.
I was also tasked to ensure the timely publication of the monthly trade magazine and was responsible for content, layout, headlines, pictures and post-production.
I was trained as a web journalist, writing and interviewing prominent personalities in the insurance industry for the Asia Insurance Review and Middle East Insurance Review.
Gradually, I became a print journalist and wrote news analysis on the growth of the insurance industry in Asia and the Middle East. I also focused on developing the company's editorial coverage on Islamic finance and takaful worldwide.
I have a degree in business, specializing in marketing from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
