Have Shift responsibility for monitoring, controlling and operating all field area as well as Distributed Control System (DCS) located in Control Room.
work independently on shift basis and will be required to have deep knowledge of the plant equipment, an analytically approach and the ability to identify real potential problems.
Supervise the shift if shift supervisor is not available
Direct operators to ensure equipment, instruments and the process are properly controlled. take decision making control of plant during shift when shift supervisor in field.
Document all shift activities in the logbook in order that accurate operational and maintenance records are maintained for future reference.
Assists in preparation of work permits and approve cold work permits to enable the execution of scheduled works so they are conducted in compliance with approved safety standards. Approve all work permits during acting for Shift Supervisor
Assume the decision making role in the Control room on behalf of the Shift Supervisor during incidents in order that effective, safe control over production operations is achieved
Participate in the on-the-job training of new and trainee operators to ensure that they develop the necessary skills to independently operate the allocated areas of the plant
Responsibility not only for operating and monitoring field equipment across an entire plant as per rotation requirements, also prepare for assuming the full and independent role of a DCS Control Room Operator. Have an emergency response role and must ensure that all activities are carried out in compliance with Company Occupational Health, Quality, Safety and Environment procedures
Develop an understanding of all operational procedures and practices through on-the-job training to ensure readiness and capability to effectively operate all areas of the plant
Co-ordinate process Operation works of field Operators and assist them in the resolution of operational problems.
Assist and train in the development of their skills and expertise.
Undergo supervised on-the-job training as a DCS Control Room operator and develop the necessary skills and expertise to assume full and independent responsibility.
Participate in the on-the-job training of new and trainee operators to ensure they develop the necessary skills to independently operate the allocated areas of the plant.
Participate in two relevant off the job training courses related to process and specialized equipment or have equivalent education and experience
