Responsible for resource allocation among various projects, preparation of projects
charters, manage all the changes, manage procurement, coordinate the communication
among various projects, setting and monitoring operations methods and standards, and
set the priorities among various projects.
As most of the projects constructed with Galfar Engineering are of E.P.C.C.
(Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning) and multi discipline
nature, which requires a special approach different from the conventional projects.
My responsibilities as the civil manager were:
• Tendering Stage Responsibilities: To study the conceptual FEED and
estimate / assume all the details of the design to come out with a quantifiable
design that can be estimated. Then to set out the project construction strategy.
Once the project is quantified and the construction strategy is set, I would
oversee the estimators of the project to monitor and give guidance.
• Post Tender Award Responsibilities:
o Detailed Construction Plan: I would oversee the detailed planning of
the project, which includes the schedule of engineering deliverables,
bulk and long-lead materials approval, procurement, delivery,
construction works program including all the resources utilization and
deployment throughout the project period.
o Managing The Engineering Contractor: I would oversee and
manage our engineering contractor to produce the detailed construction
design as per the assumptions made during the tendering stage and to
use all the added value design methods to reduce the construction time
and cost while increasing the quality and usability of the project. I also
supervise the engineering contractor to submit all the deliverables as
per the construction plan.
o Managing The Procurement: I evaluated the various construction
materials, based on quality, price, and delivery time, choose the most
appropriate materials for the project. Then submit the materials for
approval, once approved, I released the material purchase orders to the
procurement department and flow up the delivery all according to the
project procurement plan and budget.
o Managing The Project Construction: I oversaw the construction
manager(s) to make sure the project mobilization and construction are
progressing as per the plan and continuously carryout the resource
leveling to assure that the project progresses as per the plan and
budget.
o Managing The Project Cash Flow: I would participate in making the
project budget and cash flow, then follow up the payments and
expenditures to assure the proper financial performance of the project.
