Web Designer & Developer
Support Content Managers and Editors in the deployment of all news stories, content and social initiatives with both graphic and coding assignments;
Design and create compelling, artistic graphics, maps, charts, dynamic headers, footers, feature graphics, etc.;
Create and maintain the look, layout and features of the website;
Help with maintenance and additions to the website and work collaboratively with the Online Content Management Team to problem solve any website and/or Content Management System (CMS) issues;
Work with the Online Content Management Team and/or client representative to keep the site software and infrastructure up-to-date;
Assist team in the design, planning, and research of user interfaces that are user-friendly and appropriate for the needs of the client;
Assist team in delivering solutions which help to contribute to the overall look, functionality and feel of the website;
Ensure, create and modify content documents and webpages to adhere to Section 508 accessibility guidelines;
Maintain and follow up on all content, graphics and photography for the website and social media pages;
Help to develop a standardized website design that engages, attracts and informs;
Partner with Content Editors/Specialists to conceive, develop and execute compelling images and graphics to engage the audience and ensure that text and images harmonize;
Review and proof creative content to ensure accurate rendering across various operating systems and browsers;
Design and develop Web special reports each month, building on HTML, and create associated products including graphics and banners for rotators and ads;
Employ JavaScript and other applicable web technologies to design, maintain and update apps, widgets and other solutions to deliver online content;
Attend weekly meetings with staff and management to review progress, update team on new projects, address any concerns and review action items.
Proactively offer suggestions and strategies to drive engagement and demand through web design and presentation;
Design/Layout graphics and images for briefings, display content on eBoards and on occasion print products;
Work with the Senior Front-End Developer/Designer to help produce and file daily, weekly and monthly reports;
Work with little to no oversight or supervision and bring a wide array of design and technical skills to the table;
Use programing languages such as HTML, DHTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, etc. for the creation and population of web site(s);
Use Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, etc.) skillset for creating and optimizing relevant elements for web and social media;
Utilize graphic design principles (type, color, layout, composition, motion graphics) and the confidence to bend the rules when necessary; and,
Use content management systems such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.
