The Institute of African and Asian Studies, University of Khartoum, assigned me to read the papers which were presented to the Conference on Afro-Arab Relations in 1987, summarize them and make a translation of each abstract in two languages out of Arabic, English and French. Under supervision of a professor of translation, I translated around twenty-two abstracts and the same number of abstracts were published along with the full text of papers in the Arab and African Journal of the Institute of African and Asian Studies.

This resulted in approving both degrees, i.e., the Master's degree and the Swahili Postgraduate Diploma in the same meeting of the Senate held on 19/10/1992.
