Having submitted my dissertation I secured a place at Olayan Kimberly-Clark as an assistant accountant. My responsibilities as an Assistant Accountant include but are not limited to:
• Receiving and managing sales in both cash and cheques
• Preparing deposit slips and depositing collection for the day
• Organising and posting invoices into MFG PRO
• Successfully carrying out month-end closing
• Managing and maintaining petty cash
• Detailing expense claims and balancing petty cash in excel
• Carrying out bank reconciliation, posting and balancing
• Reviewing damaged/expired goods brought in by salesmen, preparing the relevant documents and posting them into MFG PRO and the online General Ledger.
• Reviewing and reporting customer credit history for orders placed and releasing them after they have been approved
• Maintaining up to date sales records and providing sales team with performance reports such as aging by salesman and collection by salesman
This job role has given me the opportunity to truly experience the essence of accounting and has allowed me to connect the dots between my theoretical knowledge of accounting and the real life application of it.
During the first year of my BSc degree I applied to one of England’s largest multicultural retail/wholesale stores first as a stock control assistant and later on as a part of their customer relations team. My Duties at Rolex Trading Company included:
Customer Relations
• Dealing with retail customer quarries
• Dealing with retail customer complaints
• Dealing with retail customer returns
• Dealing with walk in and over the phone customers
• Providing after sales support
• Carried out monthlycustomer satisfaction surveys as part of a team
Stock Control
• Regularly reporting stock levels to ensure efficient procurement
• Accommodating and maintaining a large number of different products
• Dealing with large wholesale orders made out to distributers and other retail stores
• Receiving wholesale orders
• Receiving deliveries
Having worked for almost 3 years in a prestigious company such as Rolex Trading Company I have been able to hone my communication skills, learn to work in a team, learned the importance of team work and developed a good understanding of company culture and the way businesses operate in the UK.

• Handling incoming calls, diagnosing new and existing customer needs and advising on appropriate products and services available that would best suit their needs
• Dealing with difficult customers and resolving their issues. I always aimed to achieve consistency in the high level of service being given to our customers, if the problem could not be resolved on the phone; I ensured that the issue was passed onto the technicians in a timely manner.
• Communicating with various teams throughout the organization to follow up on unresolved matters to ensure that good consumer relations are maintained.
