As an IT Advisor, I am involved in analyzing, documenting improving business process that will be affected by the technologies. Identifies and plan for IT Budget and investment on new technologies. Ma’aden has grown from it Gold Mining company to number of companies. Phosphate, Aluminum, and Magnasite. I was involve in developing and implement IT Security policies and procedures to minimize the effect of security breaches in all companies.
In-Charge for compliance and audit of IT. Being a public company, every year we conduct two IT Audits, one with external auditors which is mostly audit on security and controls and one with Internal Auditors looking into more details. Conduct meeting with auditors to address and resolve any findings, develop plan to resolve those findings and execute them with coordination of application manager and operation managers. Conduct post reviews and close gaps.
In-Charge for Implementing Risk Management System for IT in line with Enterprise Risk Management Department. Identity IT Risk on quarterly basis and prepare mitigation plans. Update identified risks. Analyze IT Risk BIA (Business Impact Analysis), designed a complete BCP (Business Continuity Plan) and update risk register.
Implement hot disaster recovery site. Initially it was only for ERP application and database only. I was supervising the project with application team to implement disaster recovery site using Data Guard technologies. Which sync with live servers in real mode. Every transactions being recorded in both live servers and standby servers. Test for recovery is being conducted on quarterly basis.
Supervise the project to further enhance the disaster recovery site with de-duplication technology using Symantec appliances. In the design we recommended based on our data growth a 40 TB appliance to be master backup appliance and 14 TB in the disaster recovery site for de-duplication.
Part of my responsibility is to prepare 4+1 year strategic IT Plans. Work with IT Director in developing IT Strategy. IT Department has to be aligned with business strategy in developing IT Strategic plans. So had to meet and discuss business plans in order to develop IT Strategic plans and goals.
Implement ITIL framework for Corporate IT. I was in-charge to conduct an assessment for ITIL implementation. Initially there was no framework followed. I had to start from scratch. It was done in three phases. After every phase, I had to carry an assessment and close gaps. With current implementation I have brought ITIL maturity level to 3.8 out of 5 over the period of three years.
As part of IT strategy, established Enterprise agreement with vendors such as Microsoft, Dassault, HP, Symantec and Dell. Also established contracts with local company for outsource requirements for whole Ma’aden IT groups.
Participated in number of other projects with Administration Department, Environmental department, Corporate Communication, Industrial Security and Procurement in reviewing and recommending advance technologies to be used in relative fields.

Charges: In addition to my role as an IT Advisor, I was assigned to Operation Managers duties in absence of Operation Manager. I was in charge of network, Data Center and System Admin teams. Plan and budget for operation projects. Schedule teams to support 24x7 operations. Set employees KPIs and evaluate employees performance.
I was in-charge for designing network for Ma’aden Exploration with satellite connectivity. Exploration team works in remote areas where connectivity is not possible due to infrastructure limitations. I was heading a team of network and system engineers to meet business requirements.
As a Senior Network Analyst I am responsible for network design, network administration. Maintaining Novell 5.11 and MS NT 4.0, MS Windows 2003, Exchange 5.5, Exchange 2003 and MailSweeper network with over 350 users. I am also responsible for configuring and administration of Cisco Switches and Routers.
To lead our team in network design, network administration. I was the interface between ICSM and our respective clients. I was responsible for managing the configuration, administration and maintenance of all network-related equipment both for the Novell Netware 3.11, 4.12, 5.1 and Microsoft Windows NT server environments. I was the network coordinator at Royal Saudi Air Defense (RSADF). Major duties at RSADF included the following:
Establish LAN/WAN connectivity by using high-speed communication devices in five separate locations
Upgrade & installation of Novell Netware 3.12 to 4.11 and finally to Novell Netware 5.0
Implementation of MS Exchange Server 2000
Installation of connectors, hub, Cisco switches and routers
Installation of Bay Networks / Nortel Network switches
Tested and Implemented the VLANS
Created, implementation and trained RSADF personnel on the backup and recovery procedures
Originally hired to be the Senior Field Support Engineer, but my skill sets and professional experience encouraged Lucent Technologies to assign me more senior responsibilities and tasks. My major responsibilities were to administer and troubleshoot issues that rose with regards to the network, database connectivity. I was responsible for trouble shooting Microsoft platforms as well as UNIX platforms. I headed up two major projects. One was the Y2K project and the other was the FileNet project. I evaluated, tested and recommended FileNet DocServer and FileNet Image Server. Additional duties at Lucent Technologies included the following:
Administration of the on-site support for desktop/laptop computers running on MS OS platforms
Installation, configuration and training of software, and various different hardware (i.e. network based applications)
Provide the administration of the operational support in the Lucent Technologies’ Data Center (i.e. make sure that my colleagues are running efficient back-ups, and monitoring the systems)
General administration of the MS Windows environment (creating accounts, assignment of operational duties)
Administration and assist field engineers in analyzing and solving problems faced by the users

To report directly to the IT Manager. I was managing large and complex business applications, the IT department with large groups of employees and contractors. I successfully conducted presentations to higher management and other business units.
I brought many projects to completion within budget and on schedule. I also met and exceeded performance deadlines and service level agreements. I interfaced with all levels of management and staff
Ensure continual availability of network and critical business applications. I was managing the relationships with various Zurich user communities and vendors. I was managing a high visibility development and deployment projects. I was also held responsibility and accountable for quality of results. I was managing the department budget, IT schedules and resources according to business priorities. I defined a forward looking IT strategy and a very efficient support plan, (which is still in place today). I implemented the regional infrastructure of the network. Additional duties as follows:
Plan, direct, and coordinates activities of day-to-day operations to ensure that goals and service levels are attained by performing the duties outlined below personally or through team members
Work closely with other senior staff and technology leads, providing mentoring and general leadership to an IT department of 4 senior managers.
Work with various teams to ensure follow-up occurs on all open tickets and service requests. Work with IT Director to implement quality management practices into all facets of department, especially continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, post-mortem analysis, and other techniques as appropriate
Work with IT Manager, Project Coordinator, and Senior Staff in coordinating resource and other requirements for implementations, system upgrades and on-going support issues
Focusing primarily on implementation of both large and small-scale projects. I provided cost effective solutions that minimized the implementation services. I developed a very efficient scope of work. I was responsible for the efficient responses to RFPs and RFIs. I was also required to manage the resources and the documentation of all the various projects I managed. Determine customer requirements and exceed the expectations. I was involved with many large-scale hardware / software rollouts. I worked with LANs - Ethernet switched, fast and gigabit bridges, switches. I was also managing the application building projects using PC-SAS, MapInfo and SPSS.
Partnering with team lead on project proposals, scope of works, strategies, timeframes, technical decisions, issues and questions. Assisting in directing and coordinating activities of project personnel/vendor to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. I acted as a resource for technical issues/questions for the rest of the team. Meeting with clients and vendors (internal and external). Managing relationships with technical vendors. Assist and testing & troubleshooting. Interact regularly with senior management. Manage delivery of medium-to-high complexity projects for one or more business functions. Managing the systems at KFUPM. Worked on mainframe applications on Amdahl 380 using VM/CMS OS. Developed many user-friendly menus using REXX programming. I was also responsible for 2nd level support and troubleshooting and assisting many people on campus with their programming projects.
Trained many personnel on the use of VM, Script, e-mail services, graphic facilities and applications and connecting their PC to the mainframe. I also developed some SQL and COBOL based aplications.
I was also involved with the purchase of approximately two hundred PCs for the different departmental labs on campus. I was involved in preparing the RFP, evaluation of the bids and testing and distribution of all the PCs. I also managed the installation of some UNIX workstations for the UNIX labs.
