Engineering, Customer Liaison and Supplier Management
• Participated in ITCM (kick-off meeting) with the customer (airline) and selected supplier to define the airline seat features and design; finalized electrical drawing submittal dates.
• Reviewed drawings received from supplier and provided comments; obtained approval for drawings after required iterations were done by supplier so that seat starts getting built.
• Monitored supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
• Managed customer and supplier change request from determining scope, analyzing cost of implementation and determining impact on project schedule, obtaining approvals and final implementation within schedule.
• Supported fielded hardware and software over the entire product life-cycle.
Design Review, Testing & Installation
• Conducted PDR (Preliminary Design Review) at supplier’s facility to discuss design related issues and explain any changes in the drawing.
• Conducted CDR (Critical Design Review) at supplier’s facility to finalize seat design; tested an actual seat to confirm that it was within design specifications. Key parameters checked included conformance of electrical build of the seat (Actuation and In-Flight Entertainment) to drawings, and FAA Compliance. Implemented drawing changes if required.
• Conducted FAI (Final Article Inspection) which is the final inspection before seat is shipped to Boeing. Ensured electrical compliance to drawings and FAA regulations, and oversaw installation at factory.
LEAN Methodology
• Instilled best engineering practices and translated leadership vision to the Systems Engineering Organization by instructing a team of 15 LEAN focals in improvement tools and principles.
