Responsible for managing and evaluation AMI Project ( Advance Metering Infrastructure System ) Provided by M/S Siemens for 35, 000 metering points, using different communication technology ( PLC LV/MV & GPRS & FO ) and multiple meter vendors ( L&G, ITRON, ISKRAMECO, Seventrent, Hydrous, Badger, Elester ) )& IP-Meter & Head end Nitnium HE & E*meter MDM Energy-IP & PLC MV from PPC & Wireless MBus Solutions / Project cost (49 MQR) .
• Provide technical support for distribution automation solutions ( New DCCs
Control Center and Integration with AMI )
• Drive best practices behaviors into the organization for advanced
telecommunications networks
• Member of Technical committee for smart grid road map .
• Solution Design: Responsible for preparing / reviewing Design documents for AMI. Evaluate AMI solution and Technologies offered. Highlight Gaps in the solution and recommend best practices/technologies in this field. This includes Smart Grid Initiatives like Distribution Automation (Micro-generation & Renewable Integration-Solar PV), Demand Response (Prepayment, IHD), Outage Management and enabling communication infrastructure like HAN.
• Solution implementation: Responsible for Evaluation of POCs for AMI Projects, reviewing configurations and detail design elements in the system/solution from technology, Security and recommend changes / corrections. Guide AMI technology vendor when required about deployment methods including mass rollout deployment. Supervise the deployment of solution.
• Innovations: Analyze new products/technologies available in market and provide recommendation to management on best products / solutions for implementation to support business process in KAHRAMA and to achieve Energy Objectives of Regulatory & Supervisory Board.
• Making a difference by creating innovative technical solutions for Smart Grid communications, OT security and applications that address real needs.
Achievements
Managing and controlling the functions in the section to meet transport Network requirement of multiple services such as SCADA, Telephone, Internet, IP/MPLS Network, Metro Core Network, and L2 Aggregation Network which serving CCTV and IP applications / Smart Grid Requirement .
Supervise the staff of 10 employees (engineers & technician) . Ensure the individual and team performance.
Company’s representative in design meetings with consultants and contractors and suggest solutions and recommendations in evolving a standard design philosophy.
Coordinates with the consultant in preparation of method statements related to electrical SCADA works..
Develop and upgrade standards and review them on a periodic basis.
Possess adequate experience in the design of command control centers and integration of various ELV systems with SCADA. Installation
Reviewing control systems architecture, material submittals & Shop drawings related to the SCADA system of a single building or the Site Wide SCADA system for multiple systems/buildings in a central control room.
Tender preparing & Evaluation of second phase of CCTV, extension of MPLS core and Ethernet carrier deployment using Cisco CGS & ASR 9000
Design, Planning the TDM over IP Migration requirement to enables legacy equipment (e.g. E1, E3, RS-232/RS-485) to co-exist harmoniously with more modern technologies on an Ethernet/IP platform
Proficient in LAN/WAN Design & Support, Fiber Optic Technologies and Data Networking Implementation.
Expert in NGN SDH, Optical Switches, IP Technologies, Digital and Optical Cross Connects, Network Integration, Management Systems (EMS/NMS), etc.
Selection for new product, Next generation and supervise the interoperability / Capability test by Attending Factory acceptance testing and ensure compliance to project requirements, such as :
a) FOX 660 Optical Packet Equipment, Interoperability test at ABB SWISS 3/2010
b) OMS 1410 Optical Packet Equipment, Interoperability test at ERICSSON IITALY 4/2010.
Preparing Master plan for Smart Grid application.
Design Complete L2 / L3 Network for Water SCADA, IEC 104, as well Fiber Optic network
• The following projects are being handled by me from tender evaluation to review the design, FAT and SAT commissioning of
a) The Emirate Monitoring Control Center of Emirate National Grid / EDF Consultant / ABB contractor ( 20 M AED telecom Part )
• I have been involved in this project from the beginning stage (Engineering, Design and execution) where I Supervised the Electrical and Telecommunication (Fiber Optics and SDH & METERING ) activities
My key responsibilities are depicted as follows.
1- Witness Installation testing and commissioning of Fiber Optic terminal
Equipment. (ABB's FOX 515)..
2-witness Installation and Commissioning of SIGLON metering system. 3-witness of Lying /testing / commissioning of Fiber Optical Cables (OPGW &
Patch Chords) from AFL and Alcatel .
b) Dubai Intelligent Metering System IMS ( 3 Milllion AED )
c) DEWA Substaions CCTV Project . ( 7 Million AED )
d) DEWA IP WAN ( Metro Ethernet / EoS, L2 Aggregation & MPLS Cisco Routers 7609s ) .
e) 35 new 132 Kv. substations every year
f) New Transmission Control Center ( Going On )
• Design, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance DEWA backbone SDH STM-16 network which included different equipment from:
a) Marconi Equipment MSPP SMA1/4UC & OMS 1654 (STM-1/4/16)
b) ABB FOX 515 X & FOX 515 T (STM-1/4/)
c) Marconi NMS MV36 Core2 and ABB NMS FOXMAN
• Upgrading The Existing PDH Network (Nokia & FOXU & FOX 515) and assist the integration of various telecom systems Including RFL and Alcatel PDH multiplexers.
• review and approve contractor’s designs, supervise the erection, testing/commissioning, site QA/QC & safety activities of the contractor’s works to ensure the work complies with the specifications.
Achievements :
Configuration and Maintenance of SDH equipment (Tellabs ADM/TM Multiplexer).
• Operation and Maintenance of X.25 packet switch network (Telebit Routers) and analyzing the interface troubleshooting with ABB SCADA system
(Spider) using protocol analyzer
• Commissioning for Power Line Carrier Equipment (PLC) Siemens ESB 2000i
• Commissioning For ABB FOX 515 SDH Equipment.
• Testing and maintenance of fiber optic transmission systems (ADSS &
OPGW ) Cables from Alcatel, LG and Alcoa Fujikura
• Install and test the transducers and check the wiring from the transducers to
both the switchyard ( CT & VT ) and the ABB RTU 232
• Test and commission the RTU and carry out end-to-end testing with
CANRCC
• Familiarity with ITU and IEC Standards.
