Previously held a position of Head of Corporate Real Estate in Boubyan Bank, an Islamic bank which is a subsidiary of National Bank of Kuwait, the largest bank in Kuwait. I joined Boubyan in October 2011.
As a senior member of Corporate Banking team in Boubyan Bank I managed the Division within the Wholesale Banking Group reporting directly to the General Manager/ DCEO.
I effectively guided a group of 6 Senior Relationship Managers and customer service Officers to grow the bank’s relationships with Large Corporate clients, properly assess the credits and follow better reporting practices. I actively participated with McKinsey &Co. team in setting up the restructuring strategy, budgets, and financial targets for the Wholesale Banking Group.
Some of the Major responsibilities:
• Prime responsibility is to build up/ develop a best in class senior relationship management practice for the market top clients.
• Contributing to the formulation / implementation of the bank’s corporate banking strategy in Real Estate market through finalization of credit policies for new (Islamic) products to be launched such as Ijara, Murabaha Commodity working Capital and Istisnaa.
• Directs the day-to-day operations of Corporate Real Estate clients through providing expertise, encouraging and ensuring teamwork, aligning work processes in order to achieve high performance standards, meet established targets, objectives and employee engagement in a motivated work environment and liaising with internal and external parties.
• Develop and implement business action plan for Corporate Real Estate in an effort to contribute and accomplish the bank’s ultimate objectives being revenue growth, market share, corporate image and control/ minimize level of defaulted clients.
• Directs and ensures the effective achievement of functional objectives through leadership of the Division, setting departmental and individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback, and appraisal in order to maximize subordinate and departmental performance.
• Member in the bank’s Management Credit Committee.

Portfolio size: USD 2 Billion, in Real Estate and Contracting.
• Establishing lines of accountability within the Division and focusing on long-term development of mutually advantageous client relations while ensuring that all short-term objectives are met simultaneously. Major task is Enhancing the bank’s profitability through capturing new promising business opportunities and maximizing returns on employed capital from existing relationships (ranked # 1 among other business units in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 in terms of profitability).
• Planning for budgeting and business plan for the Real Estate and Contracting unit.
• Plan, control and implement strategies to meet business objectives through the provision of high services standards.
• Provide direction to unit’s members to proactively manage existing portfolio of corporate relationships, source new business, analyze credit proposals, maintain credit quality and generate revenue towards achievement of unit budget.
• Proactively identify potential problem accounts at an early stage and recommend appropriate remedial action to minimize credit losses.
• Responsible for corporate portfolio amounting to KD150M (US$ 500M).
• Major task is Enhancing the bank’s profitability through capturing new promising business opportunities and maximizing returns on employed capital from existing relationships( The Bank’s Super Achiever, achieving 160% of targeted budget in 2006).
• Planning for budgeting for growth and recommending strategies for the corporate relationships.
· Responsible for the Pharmaceutical, Health Care and Detergents portfolio amounting to EGP 1.3 billion (US$ 210M)
· Enhancing the bank’s profitability in terms of capturing new promising business opportunities and maximizing returns from existing relationships, which increased the portfolio’s profitability by CAGR of 24%.
· Studying the relevant industries and assess market conditions.
· Planning for budgeting for growth and recommending strategies for the corporate relationships.
· Negotiating in collaboration with the Risk Exposure Management Group critical accounts and/or criticized accounts, suggesting solutions in lieu of the bank’s vision and strategy.
· Following up with clients with respect to compliance to facility limits and timely payment of loans and follow up on any alarms that might be raised in the course of assessing the company’s credibility and support package.
· Negotiating pricing, documentation, collateral and support package.
· Performing valuations of companies using traditional valuation methodologies and study the relevant industries and assess market conditions.
· Training and managing the work flow among the team members and direct supervision of junior level staff members in the completion of industry publications, projections, various financial analyses.
· Responsible for the Pharmaceutical portfolio amounting to EGP 500 Million (US$ 133M). · Conducted in-depth financial analysis on the macro and micro level including company visits, management interviews, visiting industry experts and forecasting. · Designed and recommended financial packages to clients including cash management, debt raising, export finance, FX deals and others. · Performed quantitative and qualitative analyses of accounts handled, industry assessment, reported Bank position and presented it to the Bank’s senior management. · Handled documentation and legal procedures related to facilities and loans, supervision of assistants and new hires and presented credit recommendations to the Senior Credit Committee.
Level III candidate, Chartered Financial Analyst - CFA®, 2019
A five months course followed by another four months of on line training . The course covered the topics on: accounting, risk analysis, financial statement analysis, cash flow mechanics, lending rational, trade finance, legal issues and documentation, credit administration, dealing room functions and foreign exchange trading, corporate finance and others. The course was followed by case studies from the US market, comprehensive examinations and an integrated industry study.
Professional Designation Certificate in Investment Banking. A seven months course followed by a comprehensive exam at the end of the program to be a certified investment banking specialist. The course covered the topics on: accounting, securities industries and capital markets, economic/ industry & financial statement analysis, corporate finance, valuation of assets and technical analysis and public offerings and private placement.
Bachelor of Accounting, General Grade: Very Good , Minor: Business Administration.
