Thorough evaluation of execution process of existing investments in pipeline and to present investment updates to the group investment committee; and
Liaison with project financiers, regulators, lawyers and consultants in execution of the projects.
Major responsibilities included:
Supervisory role in preparation and maintenance of tactical and strategic budgets of the holding companies. This exercise enables the key management of AHC to have:
• Grasp on business structures and understanding of potential triggers and dampeners;
• Periodical review and monitoring accomplishment of KPIs of investee companies;
• Liaison with auditors and certifiers for valuation of listed and unlisted investments; and
• Active participation in setting investment and financial strategies for the businesses.
Facilitating management of holding companies in budgetary analysis, costing and critical review of the estimates for authorization of budgets; and
Build and review financial models and undertake due diligence and valuation of prospective target companies, prepare transaction and marketing materials.
Notable Accomplishments:
Prepared in-depth forecasts of associated company’s housing society project covering periodical construction cost factors and optimal pricing decision; and
Initiated the process in AHC to have detailed budgetary control system of associated companies Performed in-depth evaluation of associated company’s housing society project covering periodical construction cost factors and optimal pricing decision. The pricing decision involves different loan structures for prospective buyers;
Conducted an in-depth budget review of an associated steel plant post achievement of COD;
Prepared projections and valuation of commercial real estate development project; and
Performed ‘Merger Valuation’: Produced proposal for intended merger with the calculation of fair values of two fertilizer manufacturers, equity swap ratio and synergistic benefits.
Major responsibilities included:
Excel based Financial modeling: Constructed and developed multiple assumption driven valuation models utilizing media resources, industry resources and Bloomberg terminal;
Industry Focuses: Primarily responsible for buy-side research on Oil & Gas, Cements, Chemicals, Banking sector and several small cap companies; and
Investment / Divestment Notes: Prepared and presented valuation to Investment Committee with investment/divestment write ups on companies pertained to different sectors.
Notable Accomplishments:
Conceptualizing and designing ‘Style Index’: Formulation of an internal benchmark referred to as ‘Energy Index’ used to assess performance of a specialized portfolio; and
‘Performance Attribution Model’: Designing a spreadsheet which identifies the sources of under/over performance vis-à-vis benchmark on stock-wise basis over a measurement period.
Key responsibilities included:
- Financial modeling and publishing research report on covered companies/sectors: Assumed sell-side research coverage on Automobile and Oil and Gas sectors.
Notable Accomplishments:
- Major participation in development of report ‘Pakistan Outlook 2009’ giving stance on economy, overall capital market and different sectors and devising investment strategy.
Key responsibilities included:
- Maintaining standard costing system & performing variances analysis; and
- Reporting analytical comparison of periodic financial statements with budgeted numbers.
Notable Accomplishments:
- Major participation in successful changeover of inventory module from MS Excel; and
- Development and implementation of method for allocation of cost of imports to different contracts on the basis of ‘contract completion method’ for the calculation of variance.
