Saudi Electricity Company (SEC)
Total years of experience :14 years, 4 Months
EHV Network Planning Department, Riyadh, KSA Oct ’12 - Present
My responsibilities include:
o Power Flow modeling, System Impact Studies, Short Circuit Duty and Location Feasibility Studies using Siemens’ Power System Simulator for Engineering (PSS/E) software to model new generation power plants as well as substation interconnections to determine the necessary transmission upgrades to ensure SEC’s reliability criteria are met.
o Conduct reliability studies to ensure that system load and substation loads are in-line with the system reliability standards and with the generation forecast.
o Conduct special system studies for the Bulk Customers.
o Support projects connecting with 380 kV system during their EPC phases.
o Study substation projects required by the Saudi Aramco for their vast oil transportation network.
Transmission & Interconnection Planning, Pomona, CA June '10 - June '12
Worked as a Power Systems Engineer within the Generation Interconnection Planning a subgroup of Transmission & Interconnection Planning (TIP). My responsibilities include:
o Technical review of generation interconnection applications (interconnecting from 66 kV to 500 kV), project single-line diagram development, and project mapping using Google Earth.
o Support projects connecting from 66 kV to 500 kV during their Engineering, Procurement and Contraction (EPC) phases of each projects.
o Represent GIP during the selection of the sites for the new substations and transmission routes.
o Power Flow modeling, System Impact Studies and Operations Studies using GE's Positive Sequence Load Flow (PSLF) software to model new generation interconnections and determine the necessary transmission upgrades to ensure
SCE, FERC, NERC, & WECC criteria are met.
o Short circuit duty analysis using Computer Aided Protection Engineering (CAPE) software.
o Representing SCE in generation interconnection scoping and results meetings.
Distribution Engineering, Rosemead, CA Oct '09 - May '10
Developed a model of a typical distribution circuit and determined the effects of large Solar Photovoltaic (PV) penetration (>2MW) has on Power Quality, such as voltage fluctuation, harmonics, and VARS, to help the Electric Utility Industry accelerate placement of high level PV penetration into existing or newly designed distribution
circuits.
