Job responsibilities:
• Managing the business and scientific research data centers of KAUST with the data center team including the data center for the fastest supercomputer in Middle East, the IBM Blue Gene/P, “Shaheen”.
• Executing operations of critical data center facilities of (LEED Platinum Facility) including high density HPC and Supercomputing data center with 4000 sq. meters of raised floor area.
• Contributing to the data center process and policies improvement by providing creative inputs and initiatives.
• Providing procurement and vendor management support of required data center HPC server hardware.
• Assisting in training, supervision and coaching data center operations staff.
• Planning, designing and implementing HPC technical solutions in data center based on the customer’s requirements.
• Evaluating and recommending purchase of required equipment and other improvements for the data centers.
• Managing data center functions of the Disaster Recovery Site (DR Site) for KAUST.
• Assisting Data Center Lead in developing data center reports and highlighting findings and making recommendations.
• Interfacing as a liaison between other IT departments and the data center team for effective results.
• Responsible for Inventory & Asset Management for 2500+ servers & data center Infrastructure Equipment.
• Working with other IT teams on server consolidation/virtualization projects to increase data center efficiency.
• Managing and overseeing data center access control system.
• Managing the Data Center cleaning to ensure best environmental practices for high performance computing.
• Configuring cameras, PDUs and misc. sensors using APC Strxuxreware data center expert.

Major Achievements:
• Migrated 400 servers and underlying infrastructure (Copper and IB Cables) within and across Data Centers.
• Developed and improved documentation of Data Center policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Inventory Management of 2500+ machines installed across multiple data centers.
• Achieved the ISO 14644-1 class 7 facility cleaning standard standards for the Supercomputer Room.
• Planned, designed, provisioned, installed Scientific Clusters in Datacenter as per the scientific data center requirements to carry out the assigned responsibilities. GMSV (Geometric modeling and scientific visualization cluster), Red Dragon, Roche & KCC cluster.
• Initiated and started Safety Toolbox Talk to promote continuous improvement of workplace safety within the data centers.
• Successfully configured alarm actions and thresholds for more than 400 APC sensors.
• Successfully Installed HPC hardware SL6500, SL230, SL250, K20, K40, DL585, BLC7000, BL685, WS460 in the datacenter for KAUST faculty.
