- Development of Project Plan for Master Marginal Growth and SCOT Facility extension, including 03 Shutdown, Burner Management System Upgradation and Main Turnaround for equipment modification and Tie-Inns with the existing facility.
- Develop and Monitor the critical path. Highlight potential delays or issues to the critical path.
- Initiate, Set up and maintain progress measurement metrics to reflect and evaluate the physical progress, for project and turnaround.
- Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly reports in addition to construction meeting deliverables.
- Co-ordination with different departments to keep a track of project baseline schedule and project deliverable. Support Project team members to develop the Project Execution plan.
- Delay analysis and provision of work front areas to the execution team.
- Claim Management for additional works including estimation of cost and schedule impact to the project baseline plan and budget.
- Participation in progress review meeting with client and maintaining history of key events.
- Participation in interface and coordination between vendor and company from RFQ till hiring of services or equipments.
- Pre-Commissioning of piping & static equipment’s and commissioning assistance to SASREF Refinery operations in line with Shell's Flawless Start-Up Initiative.
- Detailed planning for the complete turnaround, up to level 6, including revamping of High Vacuum Furnace, modification of columns, equipment demolitions and 360 tie-inns across various units of the refinery for commissioning of newly constructed units.
- Representing my company in FAT RAT workshops conducted by SHELL Global Inc. for schedule optimizations for major turnaround of refinery in 2019.
- Risk assessment with plant operations for simultaneous multilevel scope of major Turnaround.
- Supporting role for project manager in contractual communication with client related to project.
- Key role in development of acceleration plan up to management reviews and approval.
- Vastly interactive and scope challenging assignment for the development of planning package for turnaround for all static equipment’s (4000 Units) of Jazan Refinery & Terminal Facilities, including integrated Gasification & Utilities. Major equipment include Furnaces, Columns, Vessels, Drums, Filters, Reactors, Spheres and Tanks.
- Supervising the Team of 5 Engineers & 03 Planners for deliverables & site surveys.
- Managing & maintaining quality of deliverable to satisfy the requirement of Saudi Aramco T&I Engineers, T&I Planners, Inspections and Operations Safety Department.
- Verification of current physical condition of the equipment handed over by EPC’s with respect to P&IDs and sorting of equipment records to create a searchable hyperlinked data for Saudi Aramco database for Warranty Shutdown & future turnarounds.
- Equipment box up inspections as per Saudi Aramco Standards (SATR-D-2003, SAIC-D-2003, SAIC-E-2009)
- Coordination of all technical queries and supervision of the team for integration of reviews of different Saudi Aramco departments into Job Cards/Planning Package. Reviews include activity planning, spading for positive isolation, scaffolding requirement and materials take off.
- Verification of stock materials from Saudi Aramco SAP network and identification of non-stock material in accordance with the requirement of equipment shutdown.
- Joint site visits with Saudi Aramco Proponent for inspection & box up of static equipment’s and maintenance strategy during ‘Total Refinery Shut down’ being planned in 2021.
- Coordination with 8 major EPC’s of Jazan Refinery complex for equipment’s hand over to proponent. Inspections include matching of condition of internals with data sheets and P&IDs.
- Monitoring of pre-commissioning activities in various units of refinery and meetings with SA-PMT’s for the commissioning readiness status and proponent inspections.
- Active role in scope challenging reviews with different departments to finalise the scope of work and outage durations for first warranty shutdown of all units of Jazan Refinery Complex.
- Conduct surveys of Saudi Aramco Refinery Complex with special photography permits.
- Single point of contact for head office and overall responsibility to lead planning, execution, reporting & contractual issues on behalf of my company.
- Repair & Rectification of two storm damaged internal floating roof tanks. Responsible for rectification activities of storm damaged tanks including coordination with design department and client/Saudi Aramco, Identification of extent of mechanical damage, repair strategy, repair execution, hydro testing and handover to Aramco Proponent. The tanks were damaged during the construction phase.
- On-Site post weld heat treatment of 04 tanks with diameters 8m & 11m. Four independent subcontractors were hired and managed for Feasibility Analysis, Tanks Jack up, Insulation & Internal Firing Mechanism. The activity was planned and executed in two different areas in parallel. This milestone was achieved for the first time in the history of Olayan-Descon.
- Active role in feasibility analysis of site post weld heat treatment, design of internal stiffening, integrating the role of 04 subcontractors, Risk analysis updates and presentations to Saudi Aramco CSD and PMT department.
- Construction management of 14 utility tanks across 5 areas of Package 5, Jazan Refinery with peak manpower of 180 and 16 staff of QC, NDT & HSE.
- Development of work method statements and site technical queries.
- Participation as key person for TR meetings and joint weekly meetings with TR & Saudi Aramco
- Development of resource cost benefit analysis with project leaders and forecasts of costs and schedules with management.
- Generated variation claims based on scope & requirements change by the Tecnicas Reunidas.
The responsibility, as Site Manager for the Pre-Fabricated Material Co-ordination, Construction and Pre-commissioning is to ensure that the time, quality, health and safety objectives set for the phase/activities assigned are timely achieved, in order to meet the target schedule and objectives set by Project Management Group at Olayan Descon.
Site Manager reports to Project Leader & Business Unit Manager.
Project Scope: Erection & Pre-commissioning of 14 Tanks in Sulphur Recovery Unit, Jazan Refinery Complex
- Representing the Company with our Client Saipem, the project owner Saudi Aramco and their representatives such as expeditors, area superintendents, SA-PMT’s and SA-PID’s.
- Coordination & participation in setting the project key documents such as Method Statements for construction activities, HSE Documents such as Safety Plans/JSA’s and Quality document such as QCP’s and Quality Control Procedures.
- Utilizing my Planning experience for the planning and scheduling of activities; Ensuring timely start and completion of activities, taking the necessary actions to achieve the time and markup targets.
- Resource allocation and follow-up on the resources requirements and efficient utilization.
- The preparation of project progress reports, look-ahead and forecast plans for client, prefabrication targets and Project Leaders.
- Coordination with business unit for all procurement activities.
- Coordination with design team for on-site as built drawings or modifications.
- Development of risk register for critical activities and monitoring of critical path.
- Generation of weekly and client based Progress Reports.
- Support client’s resident expediters at workshop and to attend video conferences with field representatives of Client.

- Prepared project schedule using Primavera in-line with the fabrication of tank plates and priority of erection of tanks with respect to the availability of foundations.
- Developed method statement of tank erection & roof rigging plan for client submission.
- Managed client communication from LOI reviews and meetings to final demobilization.
- Project Invoicing and Claims for additional work done during the project tenure.
- Responsible for local procurements for heavy equipment, NDE and painting services.
- Erection services of 2 Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG) and compressed air system at Ras-al-Khair Power and Desalination Plant.
- Updating the baseline plan as per actual site progress for 90, 000 dia inch of Piping works.

- Piping layout presentation of Ammonia Glycol and direct beverage cooling system & cost analysis of direct (ammonia) vs indirect (ammonia-glycol) beverage cooling system.
