(ii) Project: Construction of overpass along King Faisal road at King Abdul-Aziz
road intersection Dammam (Segmental Viaduct).
Brief:
The project comprises of segmental bridge constant of deck total 48 spans for an
overall length 2.3 km, carrying 2/3 traffic lanes each deck consists of a precast
segmental, simply sported, externally prestressed concrete box girder with 2 interior
cells. The span length varies from 16m to 55meters. Reinforced earth wall (MSE), light
pole, utilities, and roadwork and site facilities, the Precast yard is fully functional at
the site to cast 714 segments and other items like MSE wall panels. Erection of
segments work was done by using overhead launching girder and ground support
system.
Role Responsibilities,
Ensure proper interaction and coordination with a consultant, site team, and site laboratory
for the implementation of the project quality plan.
Ensure all inspections are done, as per approved ITP, contract, and drawings.
Gluing and temporary pre-stressing of bridge box girder segments.
Grouting in the post-tensioned tendon ducts.
Bridge permanent bearing installation and grouting and sampling.
Inspections of precast panels, installation, and structural backfill of mechanically stabilized
earth walls (MSE Walls).
Preparing weekly and monthly quality reports
Check and inspect the materials being used in the sub-project to ensure it conforms to the
specification requirement of the project.
Assist all materials sampling and testing performed in the Project laboratory using available
facilities in private and government testing laboratories accredited by the client as permitted
by the Consultant.
Testing the quality of various materials using at site & ensuring all work to be carried out at
the site as per and project specifications & standard, especially concrete activities and
ensuring quality & workability of concrete during pouring.
Prepares daily accomplishment report and others which are related to laboratory and civil
works.
Supervise material testing performed for construction work. Evaluate material testing
results, record modification to meet standard specification.
Responsible and in charge of sampling and testing of the quality test of Soils, Aggregates,
and Concrete.
Coordinating all partners engaging in work (consultants &sub-contractor).
Checking the quality of various materials used on-site & ensuring all work to be carried out
on-site as per Drawing and specifications.
Preparing monthly material QC testing plan & monthly progress & testing report.
