I was hired as project administrator in the department of Research Accounting in the end of 2008. The work included, preparation of financial statements, journal and adjusting entries, opening the projects, amending, and closing in the system, budgeting, and reconciliation of advances, and project revenues. This position looks after the overall management of research projects, from the inception of the funding grants, which includes, application of guidelines of various governmental and non governmental sponsors and ensuring that the funds are used according to the regulations.
I found an opening in my field of accounting and finance in the property management company, which is one of the biggest name in the city of Calgary. My work included, preparation of monthly financial statements, entering rents through EFTs, Bank reconciliation, parables invoice coding, budgeting and the client service.
These three months were when I arrived in Canada, and instead of sitting at home, I started doing different jobs to acquaint myself with the culture and community. Although this was a short time, but most likely a very interesting time in my work life.
I was entrusted with overall financial planning, controlling, and reporting of the University. The work included, Internal audit of receipts and payments, liaison with vendors, taxation, and managing the staff in accounting department.
My Job included, reconciliation of Industrial, and commercial consumer revenue collection, Bank Reconciliation, Bank Deposits, and Designing a system to incorporate new collection organisations.
Completed the Articles Ship Training from FORD RHODES ROBSON MORROW Chartered Accountants.
