Conduct flow measurement and natural frequency testing (Vibration Analysis) and prepare corresponding reports.
Compiling all test / inspection reports and file them properly.
Assisting in the compilation of Test Procedures and Inspection Check Sheets to ensure the implementation and subsequent successful operation of ISO 9001.
Monitoring measurement instruments and its calibration.
Ensuring prompt communication to immediate supervisor of any shortfall in process or documentation.
Ensuring compliance with QHSE of the performed inspections.
Immediate reporting to supervisor any non-conformance with the requirements.
Issue and close NCRs and report it to the immediate supervisor.

Locate the required area of inspection (pipeline, vessels, heat exchangers etc) by using isometric and pipe and instrumentation drawings.
Conduct the inspection, basic and advanced ultrasonic testing (AUT), on the pipeline and vessels for the assessment of hydrogen induced cracks (HIC).
Prepare the report for both the basic and advanced UT inspection.
Compile and document the results in both hard and soft copies.
Interact with the client to discuss the project status, clarify the defects and its locations, and submit the final report.

The project work in CSIR-NML was more over related to research and development. Here the project associate work with professionals doing research in developing methods of NDT. The project objective was to develop a nonlinear ultrasonic technique to assess and quantify the high cycle fatigue damage in structural steel. Thus a non-collinear nonlinear ultrasonic (NCNLU) wave mixing technique has been established to study the localized plastic deformation at the crack tip. To observe the applicability of the proposed NCNLU technique to assess the localized damage, fatigue tests were carried out on a notched 9Cr-1Mo 3-point bend specimen and three different approaches were used to measure NCNLU parameter. All three approaches showed that the NCNLU parameter senses the severity of the damage and the spatial distribution of plastic zone at crack tip, which affects the propagation rate of crack. This reinforces the applicability of NCNLU technique in not only detecting the localized damage but also to map the stress zone around the crack tip.

The field work in Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, BHEL (Tiruchirappalli) was to fulfill the requirement of masters degree. It deals with one and half months of training in various basic NDT methods including RT, UT, MPI, LPT and VI. Experienced professionals in NDT from BHEL Tiruchirappalli conducted training in different NDE techniques. The training provided basic knowledge in various NDT methods and its application.

Non-destructive Testing (NDT) includes the theoretical and experimental study of basic and advanced Non-destructive Evaluation (NDE) methods. The structure of two years masters program includes four semesters, in which two semesters comprise of course work and remaining two incorporates project work. The course work consists of subjects including Basic Metallurgy, Fabrication Technology, Surface NDE Methods, Radiography, Ultrasonics, Signal Processing, Advanced NDE etc. Master’s thesis was prepared according to the studies done in the area of material characterisation using nonlinear ultrasonics (NLU).

As I have pursued diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Government Polytechnic College-Kannur, the duration of BE in Mechanical Engineering was three years (6 Semesters). Engineering Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Engineering Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Design, etc were the core subjects studied during the course work. Final semester incorporates management subjects and project work. AutoCAD and ProE were learned as the part of course syllabus. Graduated with first class.
