My job roles include:
- Responsible to complete Audit assignments in line with the statutory requirements and BDO audit guidelines.
- Responsible to prepare and complete project engagement formalities, conflict of interest documents, client acceptance letters etc. at the time of project assignment.
- Attend preliminary meetings with clients; offer advice and develop a client understanding for the overall audit process; communicate access and information requirements.
- Prepare detailed project plans and coordinate dates and schedule with the client. Research the Organization business model, industry and obtain a detailed understanding of the client's business needs and processes.
- Identify potential risk areas and prepare review points to be followed during the audit; confer with the reporting manager which audit strategy has to be applied.
- Complete audit fieldwork by adhering to agreed upon dates, schedule and procedures with clients; access agreed upon review points and evaluate risk areas identified.
- Maintain professional relations with clients, answer queries, offer expert advice.
- Conduct analytical review by assessing the project evidence and documentation; formulate recommendations and prepare audit file.
- Ensure thorough project documentation and maintain electronic filing in accordance with BDO guidelines.
- Complete project assignments with minimum supervision and within the timelines provided by the management.
- Prepare, execute and annual audit plan;
- Select engagement team; assign audits; review audit working papers and audit methodology; evaluate staff; develop and provide training to staff;
- Ensure that the engagement team understands the client's needs and expectations and that the work product is client-focused, clear, accurate and well-presented;
- Monitor the engagement team's performance against the budget & timeline and take corrective measures, if required.
- Collaborate with the Engagement Partner, Quality Control Reviewer and Client to determine a strategy that appropriately addresses risk and manages client expectations relating to deliverable;
- Customize and update audit programs/procedures according to the requirements of International Standards on Auditing & Assurance (ISA), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS's), Companies Ordinance, 1984 and other applicable laws and regulations;
- Ensure work is delivered timely and in compliance with regulatory requirements: &
- Work with other service lines in providing an integrated service delivery.
- Establishing the Overall Audit Strategy and preparing Audit Plan in the context of applicable financial reporting framework, industry-specific reporting requirements and reporting objectives of the engagement.
- Effective planning and execution of assignments to meet stringent deadlines.
- Conducting business and audit risk assessment through client meetings, industry-specific research, market analysis and cumulative audit knowledge.
- Supervising the audit including consultations on contentious matters, resolution of differences in professional judgment amidst and addressing significant accounting and auditing issues.
- Effective team management including adequate supervision of team members and enhancing their learning experience.
- Asserting the preparation of financial statements by the clients in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulations.
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of International Standards on Auditing.
- Evaluating system of internal control and risk management procedures, identifying control weaknesses and suggesting appropriate best practices to client management and /or those charged with governance.
- Providing ongoing advisory services to clients in respect of accounting treatments of complex transactions, internal controls and compliance with company law and corporate governance requirements.
- Conduct exit meetings with senior management to discuss the audit findings with them and perform follow-up audits; and
- Reviewing compliance with best practices of code of corporate governance.
As an audit associate, I was involved in planning, execution and finalization of various internal and external audit assignments and managed to grow consistently from Associate to Senior Associate.
I have Chartered Accountancy (ACA) from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
