Assistant to the lead site planner on a $2B iron mine expansion project. Performed work hour control, advancement evaluation, performance indicators calculation, schedule revision and forecasting. In addition, coordinated and planned work process between multiple contractors.
SNC-Lavalin is one of the world's leading engineering, procurement, construction and related technical services organizations, serving selected industry sectors and geographic markets. During my work term at the company I was working for the Risk and Insurance division. I worked with the risk team. The risk team is mainly composed of engineers and provides ‘risk engineering services’. We are responsible for identifying, analyzing and qualifying the potential risks associated with each construction project. The process also includes preparing risk assessment reports. I have prepared and assisted in the preparation of risk reports for transportation projects, hydro and gas power plants projects and other industrial projects. The risk assessment process consist of a thorough analysis of the project’s natural hazards, technical risks and managerial risks, and hence requires a detailed review of all the engineering and non-engineering aspects of every project. In summary, my work mainly consisted of working with the risk engineers, reviewing and understanding all the documents (contracts, RFPs, technical drawings, engineering studies, etc) for each project and try to identify potential risk areas. I also participated in developing a ‘risk mitigation and transfer’ system for the department, which required extensive research in various engineering fields.
