Brief Job Description:
Prepare engineering designs from conceptual design, through tender to construction.
Proactively collaborate with other disciplines (Architecture, MEP, PM-CM) to deliver innovative and sustainable best value solutions that meet the client’s requirements.
Assist the Practice lead and Project Managers in developing project budgets and timelines.
Contribute to design projects across offices and internationally where required.
Support Construction Administration personnel including field reviews and co-ordination, review and issuance of clarifications and RFI responses when required.
Key Projects:
o Confidential Palace Project - Lusail, Qatar
The luxury palace is for a VVIP client. Chief Architect is Winch Design - UK & Landscape Architect is Jean Mus & Company - France. Client is being represented by Thornham Management Limited - UK.
o Umm Birkah Project - Qatar
A farm development project for one of Shaker’s key clients. The plot is close to 90 hectares and consists of Equine Parks, Agricultural Buildings, Guest Houses, Majlises, Villas etc. Client representative - Thornham Management Limited - UK.
Project: Ras Abu Aboud Stadium
The 40000 Capacity Stadium will host matches up to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™.
Innovative design using shipping containers, removable seats, and other modular building blocks. The stadium will be entirely dismantled and re purposed after the World Cup.
Brief Job Description:
• Analyze configurations of the basic structural components of the project & advise Project team & the management.
• Visit sites & review any risk/discrepancies on structural drawings/execution process and apprise Project team & provide technical support to Site Engineers & field supervisors.
• Represent Project team in Client/Consultant meeting on structural designs & execution progress of the projects.
• Liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs, which fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction.
• Examine the design & construction of structures and advise Project team on how to improve the structural integrity.
• Supervise Sub-contractors to ensure that their work schedules are structurally sound.
• Review design, drawings and prepare structural shop drawings for the projects & coordinate/advise the Architects/Draftsmen accordingly.
• Optimization of existing design concepts in order to meet building technology or budget.
• Assist the Project team in preparing project requirements.
• Preparations and submissions of regular and periodical reports on designs & site structural progress to the Manager - Infrastructure Designs, Project team, and Manager - Technical Affairs.
• Review Tender Structural drawings & be actively involved in the estimation process.
• Perform additional duties as directed by Manager - Infrastructure & Design and Manager - Technical Affairs & JV Operations
Coordination of design work with in-house staff as well as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines (MEP, BIM, PM-CM etc.)
Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes (American codes, Euro codes, British Standards, Qatar Construction Specifications etc.)
Carry out Value Engineering as well as Assessment of existing structures for strengthening and repair.
Manage project design and deliverables. Generation of drawings, calculations and comprehensive technical reports.
Responsibilities included assisting senior engineers in analysis and design of structures in coordination with other disciplines (Architectural, MEP); preparation of structural models; and designing structural elements. Other duties included preparing design reports; ensuring design requirements were met within the structural drawings; verification of shop drawings; preparing design spreadsheets (MS Excel), design documentation, formwork & scaffolding design etc. Notable projects included Burj Al Mana - a 56 storey tower, Al Majid Tower, Marina Mix-Use Building at Lusail, Foxhills Sector-H Development at Lusial, Hamad Medical Centre, Al Maha Academy, KMW-Qatar Training Center, Ezdan Towers-Strengthening & Repair, Shaza Hotel, Saad Al Noaimi Steel Factory, South Plage at The Pearl Qatar, Doha Marina Box Park; among other projects in the state of Qatar. Codes of practice include American codes, Euro codes, British Standards, Qatar Construction Specifications etc.
Under the supervision of the chief engineer, carried out management activities in the organization. Responsibilities included planning and scheduling of production to help deliver the consignments on time; preparing container loading patterns to facilitate packing for the production team; estimating costs, preparing invoices as well as packing lists for export purposes and attaining certification and attestation required for the same.
