Assistant Manager at Deloitte LLP
  • United Kingdom
  • My current job since January 2017

During my time at with the firm, I have had the opportunity to be involved in the audits of a wide range of clients; and spreading over different size. I am mainly involved in Pension Scheme and Financial Services audits, working with clients such as:

•Chesnara PLC (Insurance - FTSE listed) - Assisted in the field manager role and also carried out detailed testing on significant audit risk areas. Also involved in compiling the auditor's report to the Board of Directors. We also undertook as part of our audit procedures and insight exercise using the client's insurance date to provide additional value added insight to the client.

- Yorkshire Building Society (Top 10 largest Building Societies in the UK) - I was involved in carrying out the audit testing on provisions and the application of IAS 37, this involved testing of Mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance. I was also in charge of testing the pension asset balance (IAS19) and this involved manging a team of juniors.

- Co-Operative Pension Schemes (pension assets of over £1bn) - Involved in the testing of the pension scheme financial statements, from the planning stage where we assesses the specific risks to the audit and the client to testing sensitive member data with the consideration of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

I have enhanced my skills whilst being at Deloitte such as teamwork, time management, managing expectations, prioritisation of tasks and client interactions. Effective communication is a key skill which I have improved since being at Deloitte. An example of this is the communication of audit findings to manager/partner and preparation of findings in a form suitable for presentation to client management.
