I was responsible for all the quality aspects of the Main Hospital, the Cardiac Hospital and the Diabetic Clinic. I taught the Patient Safety Goals to the Main Hospital and the Cardiac Hospital. I conducted ongoing classes on topics such as: Key Performance Indicators, Patient Safety Goals, FOCUS- PDCA, and clinical audit tools. I assisted with several Performance Improvement projects such as: Pressure ulcers, Falls, Discharge Against Medical Advice and False Positive Blood Culture Results. I was responsible for the initiation of the "Time Out" process for all invasive procedures in KFMC. I have also been heavily involved in the JCIA accreditation for our hospital including patient tracers, and the Accreditation Steering Committee. I am also very familiar with RCA and Six Sigma projects.
I consulted with hospitals and medical clinics on the processes and requirements needed for JCIA accreditation. I assisted in the creation of hospital policies, clinical practice guidelines key performance indicators, and performed gap analysis or the facilities. I educated the staff on the process of conducting patient tracers, for JCIA accreditation and taught classes on Patient Safety Goals, and FOCUS- PDCA.
I was responsible for obtaining the process and key performance indicators ( KPI) for 8 departments throughout the hospital. I initiated 14 Outcomes projects throughout my various departments.
As part of the Rehabilitation Team, I assisted in the collection, analysis, and aggregation of the data for the rehabilitation patients on a monthly basis. I taught classes on Performance Improvement Tools to the hospital
staff. I assisted in the preparation for JCIA accreditation by preparing and reviewing the policies and procedures of the Quality Improvement Department.
I coordinated on site insurance review and discharge planning for adult and pediatric patients in the hospital setting. I arranged discharge planning for the patients which included medication management, physical therapy training and case reviews. I participated in medical records audits and maintained records for the Quality Improvement Department.
I managed up to 50 grievances and appeals cases and claims disputes for members and providers for the health plan. I established new policies and implemented existing policies which complied with the Department of Health Services. I supervised the Clinical Quality Management, Quality Improvement and Public Policy meetings on a weekly basis. I interfaced, and negotiated with physicians, patients and providers.
I purchased properties from home owners that were in foreclosure. I received the foreclosure list from the Orange County Clerk’s office on a daily basis. I worked with a contractor who renovated the property and I then refinanced the property and sold it for a profit. I also consulted and advised home owners on the effects of foreclosure. The Real Estate market at that time in California was very unstable and enabled me to operate my business at a successful financial level
I was awarded the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality certificate in 2004 and have renewed the license to date. The license is also known as the CPHQ and is highly recognized as a certificate of excellence in the Quality Management./Quality Assurance field.
