The Network Department-Computer Center looks after the Data Network of the university, including the following:
• LAN design, installation and management.
• LAN interconnections.
• Operation of SUST’s wide area network (WAN) system.
• Internet Connection.
• Web Sites design and hosting for SUST and other organizaions.
• Consaltant for many organizzations.
Our staf are ten computer engineers, fivteen techicians and four web designers.
Network Engineer (Jun 2001 till Feb2002)
• As network administrator, Work responsibilities include: • Cooperate with other staff, to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of SUST's wide area network (WAN) system software and hardware, including file servers, web servers, proxy server, remote access server (RAS), E-mail server, Routers, terminal servers, remote printers, etc.
• Tests and configures networking software.
• Maintains and monitors LAN security.
• Participates in planning, coordination and installation of the extension of Headquarters LAN to wide-area network (WAN), and in the operation and support of the WAN.
• Prepares usage statistics and maintains network-related administrative information.
• Provides training and support to network users including advice on use of network facilities and collaborates in design of network-base applications, gives technical support "operations, installations and maintenance" to the LAN's users.
• Documents and maintains operating procedures and utilities for network related tasks.
• Maintenance and software installation tasks outside of normal working hours.
• Performs other tasks as necessary.
