Ability to handle breaking news and develop it into to longer in-depth news stories, as well as features and analysis pieces. Besides extensive coverage of Egypt, I also manage stringers in 10 countries in the region. I edit and write stories, conduct interviews and write features on events across the Middle East.
Reporting duties included covering protests and elections in several cities in Egypt, Hosny Mubarak's trial from inside the court, as well as the July 2012 elections in Libya (Tripoli and Benghazi)
Part time trainer - Helped prepare material and activities for trainees and gave two-day sessions to train Egyptians in Mansoura city to use social media to report on events and verify information published on these networks.
Writing a series of success stories about IFC projects in the region, including a trip to Sana’a, Yemen, to do a series of interviews with clients and government officials in 2010. The stories also tackled the economies of the region and economic development in different countries.
Other duties included writing stories for the website, preparing fact sheets, monitoring coverage and writing reports on it every quarter.
Reporting, writing features and analysis. Being responsible for the culture and business pages for more than a year each, where my tasks included writing stories, sorting out news from news wires, following up with colleagues tasked with certain stories for either page and making the layout of the page. Moreover, duties included conducting interviews with writers and opinion-makers in Egypt.
