.Duties & Responsibilities:
• Personally responsible for the HSE operations on various major construction projects (Motorway projects, METRO, Mines works, dams, Harbours MBT facilities).
• Working stringently in line with recognised company compliance standards (ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001) to design, develop, implement and measure effectiveness of AKTOR SA HSE policies, procedures and codes
• Spearheading the complete compliance with safety procedures across the working environment, undertaking frequent inspections on site and monitoring operations
• Conducting risk assessment and hazard analysis prior to commencement of work, escalating any causes for concern and resolving immediately
• Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are recorded and investigated, identifying the root cause and recommending corrective actions going forward
• Monitoring staff performance and highlighting training needs for HSE staff and other employees, co-ordinating effectively with relevant management to bridge the skills gap and ensure efficient transfer of knowledge
• Directing safety initiatives, trainings, workshops and meetings for various stakeholders in accordance with their specific job activities to ensure safety practices and procedures are acknowledged
• Promoting a positive safety culture and awareness across the entire company as well as providing key support to management on all safety aspects
• Ensuring the P-HSS-MS remains up-to-date according to the Local legislation, FIDIC standards and bespoke technical specifications of the project
• Implementing the OSHAS 18001 Safety Management System and generating monthly reports on compliance and activity to be presented to the Project Manager
• Performing ongoing reviews of SOPs and risk assessments, escalating and resolving any issues in a timely fashion
• Co-ordinating regular health and safety meeting and encouraging a culture of continuous health and safety improvement
• Liaising closely with the Construction and Project Managers to make expert recommendations regarding training plans and campaigns, site re-arrangements, specific studies, meetings and disciplinary actions
• Monitoring the construction sites of Ionia Odos - PATHE E-65 and issuing special notifications, NNC’s and RSW
• Conducting a range of monthly inspections. Including H&S Audits and Audits of Contractor H&S Management Systems
• Performing risk assessments at both design and construction phase as well as checking, and modifying where required, the health and safety plans and files
• Evaluating studies including H&S measures for tunnel design and scaffolding, additionally preparing reports and responses to contractor related documents
• Taking an active role in construction co-ordination meetings and workshops on health and safety issues as well as providing training to personnel on H&S matters and fire procedures
• Reporting directly to the project Director / Manager and Construction Manager

• Reports on the Contractor’s failure to comply with the requirements of the health, safe ty and security management system and plan promptly and ensure that immediate and appropriate corrective actions are implemented;
• Issues of health and safety incident reports /investigations and when urgent action must be taken
• Prepares Monthly and Quarterly reports on health and safety management
• Conducts safety audits through review and analysis of performance of safety records and safety inspections of various offices and construction projects in compliance with EGNATIA ODOS HS Management System.
• Manage and maintain COSHH data base
• Installation works, equipment, personal protective equipment
• Works methods Statements, procedures, safety programs, guidelines
• Testing of noise, temperature. Measurements for the presence of explosive gas mixtures
• Regular inspections of the work site and reports to the Management.
• Preparation of Risk Assessments and Safe Working practices
• Investigation of the causes of occupational accidents and proposals for preventive measures.
• Recording monthly occupational accident statistics.
• Supervision of the conduct of fire and emergency drills (accident, evacuation).
• Participation in planning and implementation of safety training.
