Research for Towards zero energy buildings through harvesting solar energy on the rooftops of
residential buildings: A case study on Bashundhara R/A,
Method used: Literature Review and Survey Analysis.
Literature review includes studies on:
• Concept of zero energy buildings
• Use of solar energy in residential buildings
• Efficiency of Net-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) in different climate zones
• Effective approaches to fossil fuels usage reduction and increasing reliance on renewable energy.
Survey conducted in the study area was analysed to:
• Evaluate the pattern of energy use in residential buildings
• Current status of solar energy use through the utilization of rooftop solar panels
• Social understanding and acceptance of solar energy usage versus use of fossil fuels

Conducted secondary research to study:
• Viability of implementing (Nearly) Zero Energy Building in residential buildings in Dhakas urban
areas.
• Gathered and analysed data on Renewable Energy (RE) in Bangladesh, and the Net Zero and Nearly
Zero Building ((n)ZEB) concepts.
• Research focused on mainstreaming rooftop solar panel usage in urban residential buildings to
achieve (n)ZEBs.

Read, evaluated and corrected Japanese Junior and Junior High School English language assignments as
