Highlights:
• Led the business expansion activity of the company by including warehousing and distribution in the services provided. Designed and presented a proposal for providing these services at lower costs (as compared to competitor) to an existing customer who imported vet pharmaceuticals into Melbourne. Positioned the company as a ‘one stop shop’ logistics solution provider. The warehouse was strategically located and within close proximity of the client’s head office. This led to significant reduction in costs for the client and increase in revenue by 30% for Summit Global Logistics. Handled the planning and comprehensive end-to-end execution of this warehouse set-up project.
• Spearheaded efforts for receipt of accreditation for the company from the government organization Australian Customs and Australian Quarantine. Directed the entire process - drafting formal application, submitting relevant documentation, holding meeting with government authorities, ensuring compliance to directives, and obtaining national accreditation.
• Earned the trust of the company’s top Directors and was entrusted with making financial and operational decisions in the absence of the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Operations:
• Worked in close collaboration with the Company Director to develop and implement strategic plans, and grow market share of the company.
• Supervised daily operations with focus on streamlined workflow and efficiency, and achieved revenue targets.
• Participated in annual budget preparation and developed business forecasts, controlled variances and reduced operational costs.
• Reviewed P&L performance, identified reasons where budgeted targets were not met and took timely corrective measures to maintain profitability; reported financial information to the Managing Director to facilitate decision making.
• Coordinated with regulatory authorities (Australian Customs and Quarantine), ensured all operations met regulatory norms, and answered any queries when required.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with Organizational Safety & Health Standards (OS&H), and that safety procedures were duly followed.
• Identified business opportunities, helped in developing sales and marketing plans, acquired new business for the company, and increased the client base.
• Developed Standard operating procedures (SOP) for the company.
Supply Chain:
• Increased the company’s overall competitiveness by strengthening the portfolio of services (supply chain) and ensured solid business development based on extensive market research.
• Planned and developed warehouse to store various goods, designed warehouse layouts and storage places, set-up operations procedures and hired resources for the warehouse.
• Coordinated with freight forwarders for retail goods transport, tracked shipments to verify that goods delivery schedules were met, and updated customers regarding their shipments.
• Held negotiations with suppliers and signed contracts ensuring that the company got a favourable deal, ensured timely supplies; reviewed supplier invoices and recommended payment release.
• Advised customers on the applicable customs regulations in line with the type of goods being transported, helped customers complete all customs documentation.
