Manage the day-to-day operations of the host computers, servers, virtual infrastructure, virtual desktops, backup by day-to-day administration, monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
Ensure that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained
Work with vendors to assist support activities
Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts (bash shell scripting, Perl scripting, VB scripting) and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability
Train technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired
Provide first/second level support services for the LAN/WAN with minimal down time
Perform troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
Establishes, maintains and manages users Active Directory accounts and Exchange Mailboxes.
Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems
Provide server support related to other software
Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems (windows, Linux, Mac), virtual infrastructure (VMware vSphere), virtual desktops (VMware View), storage disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries, backup (Symantec NetBackup) and other components
Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources
Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse
Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications
Develop and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations
Provide leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration
Develop tools, procedures, and training sessions for Operations, Client Support and Systems Development staff to assist with work
Manage the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as air-conditioning system, UPS (uninterrupted power system) and fire protection system
• Source Manage and Maintain the NRF Electronic Proposal and Award management System and provide staff with training.
• Manage and maintain the NRF website structure and content.
• Develop and maintain online applications (portals, databases, etc)
• Coordinate with IT subcontractors (i.e. Zayed University) on I.T. services
• Assist with the planning and integration of all systems
• Act as a Tendering committee member in evaluating I.T. related bids received by the NRF
• Participate in Team Project Management for maintaining and developing systems.
• Undertake the work of the Systems Analyst, as required
• Update/change the modified I.T. related programs/reports to make it compatible with the new version of the administrative application, as required
• Manage the Department’s operational IT budget and IT assets, including whole of life asset replacement cycle (Purchase IT materials as required and monitor IT budgets) and maintains inventory records
• Coordinate and follow-up with the vendors to recommend appropriate and necessary level of service
• Manage major infrastructure projects, including evaluation, planning and implementation
• Participate in the capacity of project manager in network projects through the entire project life cycle
• Tender and supervise installation of all network electronics and network security components
• Inform staff of relevant changes to the IT infrastructure
• Recommend general system changes including training where appropriate
• Provide ongoing technical support to the users of administrative applications
• Inform administration about purchases and service contracts in order to ensure proper payment and follow-up
• Monitoring and updating student database and maintaining student's academic records
• Assisting with student registration and enrolment
• Generating statistics for internal and external use
• Conducting degree audits for graduating students
• Providing secretariat services to the Board of Trustees, Academic Board, Assessment Committee and Scholarship Committee
• Checking graduation eligibility status and prepare all graduands for the graduation ceremony
• Providing expertise and support to the Dean Academic Affairs and Chairs of Colleges, and all students postgraduate and undergraduate, regarding student policy and administration matters, consistent with the academic bylaws and standards of the University of Wollongong in Australia as well as those of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
• Planning, coordinating and servicing the conduct of examinations and processing of results at the conclusion of each session
• Collecting statistics and maintaining databases of current students and graduates for purposes of timely reference, as well as analysing, the outcome of which would feed into the decision-making processes, within the University and at the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
• Collating and updating the contents of all registry publications including the UOWD Handbook as well as fact-sheets and brochures as a means of disseminating information to all stakeholders
• Assisting the Campus coordinator as needed
• Developing and maintaining a list of key people at relevant design and art organizations
• Assisting in the launch Latifa College end of year Exhibition
• Assisting in the launch Minus Reality Exhibition, curated by Lateefa Maktoum
• Researching venues, catering companies, and supply companies that would be suitable for the end of year Exhibition
• Managing the office’s general operations
• Managing deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency
• Possessing and maintaining necessary paperwork to support academic program, including personnel records
