Education

Master's degree, Geophysics
  • at Departement Of Earth Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan
  • March 2009

M.Phil. Geophysics Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan • Correlation Of Seismic Stratigraphic, Petrophysical And Seismological Studies In Indus Offshore Pakistan. Structural interpretation of the area was done by using seismic and seismological data. It has been concluded that area is going under the extensional phase of deformation on the basis of interpreted normal faults and their fault plane solutions. Low magnitude earthquakes have been observed in the past few years indicating the presence of extensional forces. There has been no oil discovery in offshore Indus basin except PakCan-01 well which flowed gas from Miocene sediments but was abandoned due to economic reasons. Seismic stratigraphy has been used to get the information about the stratigraphic traps occurring in the area. The gas discovery in PakCan-01 well suggests that the mature petroleum system is present in offshore system. Sequence Stratigraphic interpretation discovered some sand lenses in the Miocene sediments which can act as good reservoirs.Majority of the Miocene sands exhibit enough porosity and permeability to yield hydrocarbons.
