I had done training at the factory of Thon des Mascareignes after completion of the second year of my degree course.
Responsibilities and duties:
• Responsible for ensuring that the raw materials used were according to supplied specifications and international norms.
• Ensure that incoming packaging materials were up to standards and met all requirements.
• Assessing the cleaning quality, the sensory characteristics \[the temperature of the fish, scanning the fish for impurities and ensuring that tuna was being cleaned according to the norms and standards set by customers and concerned authorities\]
• In charge of assessing the net weight, drained weight of the tuna cans and pouches and assess their sensory characteristics.
Skills Acquired:
• Analytical skills were refined and sharpened.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of the systematic and logical use of effective processes in the Food industry.
• Auditing skills to ensure food safety.
