The King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital is situated in the busy seaport of Jeddah on the western seaboard of the Red Sea. This 420 bedded hospital plus five city-wide satellite clinics form part of a national network of healthcare facilities directly managed by the Medical Services Division (MSD) of the Ministry of Defense and Aviation (MODA).
The hospital provides a wide range of primary, secondary and tertiary medical services to members of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces and their dependents. The Cardiac Center, situated within the main hospital, is the only adult cardiac surgical facility in the Western Region.
In-service training and education are actively promoted by the Departments of Medical Education and Nursing Education and from within the individual departments. The programme includes a weekly hospital Grand Round, monthly Nursing Grand Rounds and regular nursing study days. Inter- and intra-departmental activities include seminars, case presentations and Journal Clubs. The hospital is also a designated training center for junior medical and nursing staff.
All departments and units, both medical and non-medical, have written Policies and Procedures to ensure delivery of consistent levels of quality care and service.
Hera General Hospital has 261 bed capacity and 361 bed capacity during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. It is one of the modern and highly equipped secondary hospital under the Ministry of Health and accredited by Makkah Regional Quality Program (MRQP). It is an institution approved by Saudi Arabia Council for the Post Medical Graduate Studies and considered to be one of the busiest Advance Hospital considering the annual Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Department has 50 beds fully equipped with modern facilities including the latest generation of mechanical ventilators (Babylog 8000, Babylog 2000, Evita 4), Bubble CPAP (Fisher and Paykel), high frequency oscillator (Sensormedics 3100 A), nitric oxide sensor machine (Sensormedic Model No. 2000), cardiac monitors (Spacelab, Dragger, Sensormedics), ECG Machine (Schiller AT-1) blood gas machine (AVL compact 3, ABL 520), infusion pumps (Argus 414, Volimed UVP 5000), syringe perfusors (Argus 600, Alaris, Syramed UVP 2000), phototherapy units, radiant warmer resuscitaires (Hill-Rom Air Shields, Dragger, Neopuff infant resuscitator), incubators (Atom, Caleo- Dragger, Hill-Rom Airshield C-2000), laryngoscopes, Glucometer, electronic thermometers, oxygen flowmeters with humidifier suctions, suction machines, pulse oxymeter and bilimeter.
