 Carrying out routine diagnostic Analysis tests in Medical Microbiology and Parasitology such as Characterization of Microbial Isolates in the following samples:
(a) Urine (b) Stool (c) Pleural effusion (d) Aspirate and Pus (e) Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF)
 (f) Wound Swab (g) Seminal Fluid Analysis (h) Blood Culture (i) High Vaginal Swab and Endo-cervical Swab (j) Sputum Examination for Culture and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and other body fluids etc.
 Supervision of Assistant Chief, Principal and Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist in the delegation of responsibility and carrying out daily routine work and other responsibilities as assigned by head of department.
 Carrying out Analytical Research and Experimental Studies as assigned by head of department and supervising officer.
 Indenting for stores and laboratory equipment from medical store.

 Molecular diagnosis of Covid-19 using Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) (Cepheid GeneXpert system) to reduce Community spread.
 Phenotypic and Molecular detection of resistance genes using PCR in clinical isolates such as Extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL), Penicillinase and Cabapenemase e.t.c to monitor and control drug resistance genes in the wards and community.
 Preparation of antibiotic discs for Laboratory Antimicrobial Susceptibility Tests.
 Quality control and Assessment of laboratory procedures for proficiency testing.
 Microscopic and cultural diagnosis of human samples for Mycology studies.
 Carrying out routine diagnostic test for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) in clinic such as: Endo-cervical swab to rule out Neisseria gonorrhea, VDRL for Syphilis and Retroviral screening for HIV.
 Carrying out screening test to rule out Chlamydia trachomatis infection, and using Giemsa staining technique for Microscopic diagnosis of Chlamydia trachomatis infection.
 Carrying out hospital infection control in the management of Antimicrobial Resistance and periodical fumigation of the laboratory, clinics and wards.
 Production of special media such as Modified Thayer Martins media for Neisseria gonococci, Sabouraud Agar, Thiosulphate Citrate Bile Salt Agar (TCBS) etc.
 Documentation and preparation of periodic reports for statistical documentation.
 Carrying out HIV and Hepatitis B Antigen screening for cross-matching and compatibility tests of blood for transfusion.
 Analysis of CD4 lymphocyte count.
 Carrying out Adhoc duties as assigned by supervising officer such as supervising blood sample collection in phlebotomy.
