I worked as secondary and protection design Engineer in Utilities and High voltage substation department at UGL-CIMIC group. My duties included (but were not limited to):

• Develop schematic and layout drawings for different protection, control and communication panels for HV substations.
• Creating cable schedules and terminations drawings for new and existing power stations and substations.
• Develop protection philosophies and their related documentations with settings for battery energy storages and HV transmission lines.
• Performing Arc Flash studies which includes modelling and analysis for different HV and LV switchgears for TransGrid Battery storage and Victoria Big Battery
• Develop technical specifications for battery and security systems along with panels that are related to substations design
• Prepare power flow and fault analysis reports using design base, ETAP and Power Factory Softwares
• Assisting in Factory Accepting Tests (FAT) for Switchgears, RMUs and Relays related to Victoria Big Battery Energy Storage. My role in FAT was doing functional tests, CT primary and secondary tests, Contact Resistance and Relay tests.

I worked as Primary design Engineer in Utilities and High voltage substation department at UGL-CIMIC group. My duties included (but were not limited to):

• Develop technical specifications for HV equipment such as instrument transformers, circuit breakers and disconnectors for voltage levels ranging from 33kV to 500kV
• Drive and support successful procurement of a number of critical plants through local and global suppliers, including large specialist power equipment i.e. phase shift transformers, shunt reactors and synchronous condensers.
• Assess and evaluate equipment tenders from suppliers for HV equipment for the transmission network to ensure compliance with Australian standards and customer requirements.
• Preparation of different HV substation primary drawings such as single line diagram and general arrangement.
• Lighting modelling and analysis for compliance to client requirements using the latest softwares.
• Soil resistivity profiling studies for HV substations.
• Carry out analysis on transmission line circuit model as well as carrying out engineering calculations including; electric field for various HV conductors to drive optimised network designs.
• Insulation co-ordination modelling and analysis for compliance to client requirements using the latest softwares

I worked at Aurecon as a graduate in power generation section. My duties and responsibilities included (but were not limited to):

• Design and model completed for Yallourn power station which provides 22 percent of Victoria’s electricity supply. The model included different voltage levels ranging from 330KV till 0.4KV. Power flow and fault level analysis at each bus for the mentioned voltage levels were performed for different operating scenarios.
• Carry out arc flash analysis for bus sections and tripping philosophy development to mitigate arc flash hazards using state of art specialised fast trip relays.
• Modifying existing schematic drawings and producing new ones for Yallourn arc flash project to reflect the new developed arc flash protection system.
• Using Etap software to produce detailed model for large sections in Olympic Dam for BHP, which consumed around 125MW. This included voltage drop assessment and protection system to satisfy client requirements.
• Designing the connection of harmonic filter for two solar farms to improve power quality. The design included building the model in power factory and running fault analysis with power flow studies.
• Providing drawings for HV and LV cables routes along with trench sections as per AS3000 and AS2067 standards. Single line diagram, harmonic filter layout, and protection single line drawings were produces as part of the design as well.
• HV and LV cable sizing calculations for harmonic filter connection projects and DC cable sizing for Sydney trains substations. The sizing calculations involved cables de-rating, voltage drop and earth loop impedance assessment as per on AS 3000 and AS3008 standards.
• Designing new green field pump stations for Water NSW and modifying the existing design for some brown field pump stations to stratify the grow in demand.
• Performing arc flash study for Sydney Water pump stations. The study involved performing detailed modelling for three pump stations that considers all protection relays and their current settings using SKM Power Tool.
• Preparing distance protection scheme relay settings and calculations for four transmission lines belonging to TransGrid network. The settings files were prepared using ABB PCM600 and Micom software along with updating TransGrid protection setting documentation (RTIs).

I worked at Transgrid as an industrial student in primary substation design section. My duties and responsibilities included (but were not limited to):
• Checking low clearance safety section for substations with different high voltages levels i.e. from 11KV up to 500KV
• Using Microstation 3D software to navigate the 3D laser scanned site and check every conductor to observe whether it is within the Australian and Transgrid safety standards
• Reading and understanding the general arrangement, single line and high voltage
Operating diagrams for each substation and matching them with the 3D scanned site in
Microstation.
• Creating a report for the low clearance check for each substation and demonstrating the places of violations and the amount of violation (in mm) then, highlighting those regions on the general arrangement drawing of the site
• Partaking on network planning and transmission line design by reading the standard design documents of Transgrid and asking questions to the engineers specialised in that area.
• Checking the technical drawing of completed projects to find if the projects have been implemented as per initial design (As Built)or some other items needed to be removed or added on site ( Work As Executed)
