The Board of Commissioners is assigned a number of tasks which include drafting securities legislation and regulations, issuing, approving bylaws and instructions of the Amman Stock Exchange and Securities Depository Center, granting licenses to financial services companies and capital market registered persons, approving the registration of securities and mutual funds, auditing the performance of all parties subject to the supervision of the Commission. The following are subject to the Commission’s monitoring and supervision:
1. Amman Stock Exchange (ASE)
2. Securities Depository Centre (SDC)
3. Public Shareholding Companies.
4. Licensed Financial Services Companies.
5. Mutual Funds and Investment Companies.

The Department may, particularly, assume the following tasks:-
1. Conducting researches and reports as well as making recommendations related to the formulation and implementation of the monetary policy.

Conducting researches and reports as well as making recommendations necessary to formulate and implement the Government's general economic policy especially in the fields of raising the pace of economic development, improving investment opportunities, improving the public budget position, and following up the internal and foreign government borrowing.
3. Following up monetary, fiscal, and economic developments inside the Kingdom and abroad.
4. Following up the relationship of Jordan with regional and international financial institutions.
5. Publishing researches and information related to the monetary and economic positions in Jordan. Such publications include the Monthly Statistical Bulletin and CBJ’s Annual Report (in Arabic & English), in addition to periodic reports.
6. Preparing for, following up, and participating in the Kingdom's periodic consultations with regional and international financial institutions as well as foreign economic delegations.
7. Studying laws and regulations affecting the economic environment in the Kingdom, and making relevant recommendations.
8. Preparing macroeconomic models for the Jordanian Economy for the purpose of analyzing and evaluating the economic policies and making predictions on Jordan's economic performance.
9. Periodically following up and updating the statistical database of Jordan's economy and using it in the development and update of leading economic indicators.
10. Allowing interested researchers and learners to benefit from the services provided by CBJ's specialized Library (CBJL).
11. Managing knowledge at the Central Bank.
