• Initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the Company i.e., prepare writs, defaces, submissions and other pleadings in civil cases both “for and against” the Company.
• Prepare, file and plead cases in Commercial Court in pursuit of amounts owed to the Company.
• Advise on civil matters that should be directed to external counsel.
• Liaise with and assist external Counsel in the discharge of their obligation to GPL.
• File oppositions in matters where title is being passed or property is being encumbered and there are arrears due and payable to the Company.
• Advise on statutory compliances.
• Research and prepare legal opinions on various civil matters including claims for compensation against the Company.
• Proactively contribute to office activities to ensure an efficient and cohesive team environment.
• Manage communications and correspondence (phone, voicemail, email, mail), responding when needed, bringing action items forward to appropriate individual’s attention.
• Provide support for the lawyers and consultants in preparing, revising and finalizing
legal and written documents.
• Properly review, proofread and assist with any materials, including documents,
reports, memos, briefings, presentations, forms and other items ensuring accuracy
and completeness.
• Properly format and implement styles of legal documents.
• Assist with producing print ready documents for review by lawyers.
