• Oversaw more than 30 Process Engineers oriented to basic engineering, technical support during start-up, normal operation and shutdown, monitoring process variables and equipment, identify and solve operational problems in Crude Distillations Units CDU, Vacuum Distillations Units VDU, Utilities (Water Treatments, Steam Generation, Air System, etc), Flare System, FCC Units, Middle Conversion units, among others.
• Provide necessary engineering support to ensure the process units are operating at optimum conditions to provide the maximum profit by applying engineering principles and comply with applicable health, safety and environment standards.
• Evaluate MOC (Management of Change) procedures with necessary risk analysis.
• Provide consultation in troubleshooting process abnormalities to recommend the best possible solutions. Use the different software as Pro II, HTRI, etc to obtain the best solutions.
• Revise or create operating procedures to star up units, Chemicals or steam Cleaning, etc.
• Investigate operational events applying technical such as root cause analysis, logic tree; and implement the long term solution to eliminate the problem or improve performance with a focus on prevention of future incidents.
• Develop Process Engineers, including communication, and discipline, to provide a safe and productive work environment
● Lead, control and coordinate the operations of Hydrogen Production Unit (40MMSCFD, 99; 9%) from natural gas and purification with PSA.
• Coordinate and control the operational management of refinery units such as Sulfur Recovery Units (3 units, 342TMD each one), FCC-Pretreatment Hydrotreating Units (2 units, 90KBD, each one), Diesel Hydrotreating DHT (72KBD), Steam Reforming Hydrogen Production units SMR (3 units, 36MMSCFD each one), Sour Water Striping units SWS (2 units), Amine Regeneration Units ARU (2 units), FCC units (108MBD) and Flare System. etc, complying with production plans and guidelines, in accordance with operational procedures, programming guides, the highest standards in safety, environment and occupational health, in order to guarantee the continuous production in volume, quality, safe and plant reliability/integrity operation of Process Units .
• Visit the assigned process unit area, review process performance, discuss the unit performance with the Manufacturing Unit and provide necessary support to optimize operations.
• Review and approve the process parameters adjustments to maximize yield, meet production plans, plant reliability and profitability based on process performance and laboratory results.
• Coordinated the process plants shutdown (scheduled and unscheduled).
• Evaluate and coordinate MOC (Management of Change) procedures until his implementation along with necessary risk analysis.
• Provide consultation in troubleshooting process abnormalities to recommend the best possible resolutions.
• Revise and/or create operating procedures where new technologies were incorporated as; ex- situ catalyst activation, catalyst passivation, new dense loading techniques for HDT, etc; and reduce start up and shutdown time.
• Investigate operational events and personal accidents applying technical such as root cause analysis, logic tree; and implement the long term solution to eliminate the problem or improve performance with a focus on prevention of future incidents.
• Develop Operators, Plant Chiefs, Plant and Control Room Supervisors, including communication, and discipline, to provide a safe and productive work environment
Technical support to Operations Superintendent with de same responsibilities and roles in units as FCC-Preteatment, Diesel Hydrotreating, Sulfur Recovery Unit, Hydrogen Production, Sour Water, Amine Regenerations, Naphtha Splitter and Merox unit.
• Leader Group of Process Engineers in Units such as: Sulfur Recovery Unit SRU, FCC-Preteatment, Diesel Hydrotreating DHT, Hydrogen Production, SWS, ARU, Flare System, Naphtha Splitter and Merox unit.
• Provide technical assistance for process units through daily monitoring of product qualities, product yields and behavior of process variables.
• Catalyst selection, technical proposals reviewing, catalyst change, activation and extension of cycle run.
• Design and/or revise P&IDs and PFDs, develop process simulation (PRO II, Hextran, HTRI, etc), visualization and conceptual engineering design, heat and material balance, equipment evaluation, troubleshooting, equipment and instrument specification date sheets, calculation report and hydraulic calculations.
• Analyze and develop basic Enginering which is economically justifiable and environmentally safe.
• Technical support during start-up, normal operation, turnarounds preparation, shutdown, equipment inspections, and major maintenance of process units.
• Review and discuss with operations the optimum chemicals and utilities consumption in the process unit.
• Conduct special engineering studies including engineering standard reviews for operations optimization, cost reduction and safety.
• Support Principal Process Engineer with de same responsibilities and roles, except supervisor roles, in different Units such as HDT, DHT, SRU, SMR, SWS, ARU, Flare System, Naphtha Splitter and Merox units
