During this period, I gained contract administration and quantity surveying works (Used FIDIC & CESMM) experience in Post Contract. They consist of the preparation of monthly interior payment certificates, and claims, maintaining PMIS logs, making Change Requests including tentative cost estimations, discussing contractual matters attending progress review meetings, etc.
The project consists of the preparation of detailed design drawings, the construction of pile foundations, quays, dolphins, access and passenger bridges, revetments, sea walls, wing walls, handrails, quay furniture, the construction of office and laboratory buildings, the installation of electrical, mechanical, and ICT (network and telecommunication) works, and the plumbing and stormwater drainage systems.
Within this period, I gained experience with pre-contracts (preparation of tender documents) as well as post-contracts. My scope of work contained contract administration and quantity surveying works in line with QCS, QSMM, FIDIC, and CESMM. As a Consultant Senior Quantity Surveyor, I was involved in the contractor’s Monthly Interior Payment and Claims Recommendation by subsequent review, recording change requests including tentative cost estimations, drafting site instructions, drafting variation orders, maintaining PMIS logs, and drafting contractual letters. Further, I attended the discussion of contractual matters and progress reviews/claims dispute meetings as needed. The completed projects are as shown below.

As a Contractor’s Quantity Surveyor, I was involved with Pre Contract (documents preparation for tender submissions) and Post Contract quantity surveying works under control with QCS, FIDIC, and CESMM. They consisted of the preparation of monthly interior payment certificates, the preparation of claims, cost estimations for additional work, drafting contractual letters, the preparation of monthly interior payment certificates, the discussion of contractual matters, progress monitoring, and progress review meetings.
In this period, I have procured experience with Post Contract quantity surveying works in line with FIDIC, QSMM, and CESMM. The works have been assigned with the preparation of monthly interior payment certificates, the preparation of claims, cost estimations for additional work, drafting contractual letters and discussion of contractual matters, progress monitoring, and progress review meetings.
This is the Colombo Port Expansion Project which included the construction of the main breakwater structure (5.14 km long) and the secondary breakwater structure (1.1 km long). The access road to the new port, the land reclamation, the relocation of a 10-kilometer undersea oil pipeline, and the required facilities were contained for the jetty.
During this period, my duties were project management and construction supervision for the pipe-laying project. The total length of pipe laying was 111.35 km. The pipe laying consists of DI pipe transmission and uPVC pipe distribution mains with different diameter pipes as specified. The distribution mains were made of 90mm-280mm diameter uPVC pipes and fittings, and the transmission mains were made of 500mm, 400mm, and 200mm diameter DI pipes and fittings, respectively.
During this period, my main duties consist of project management and construction supervision for the construction of two water towers with a 1000 m3 tank capacity at Raigama and Panadura East in Sri Lanka. I was involved in the formwork design and construction execution, including steel trusses together with timber trusses for domes (bottom and top) and conical parts of water towers.
Throughout this period, I have gained experience as a post-contract quantity surveyor. My duties were the preparation of the monthly interior payment certificate, identifying the work changes for claims and making change requests, and contractual review in line with QCS, FIDIC, and CESMM. As well as, I attended the progress reviews, and claims dispute meetings as required. The project contained the construction of classroom buildings and food court buildings at the University of Qatar.
I was involved in contract administration and post-contract works such as contractor’s payments review and claims evaluation, and consultancy supervision as a Quantity Surveyor from Client Side. Further, I was involved in the material approval for Ductile Iron (DI) pipes and fittings, valves, and other specials, as well as arranging variation order meetings as required. Furthermore, I connected with the planning and designing work for hydraulic structures together with office buildings. The project has consisted of KG1, KG2, KG3, and KG4 Contracts (Foreign Funded Water Supply Project).
During this period, I have gained experience in the construction of the Kegalle Water Supply Scheme and the Bridge over Kelaniganga at Kelaniya. My duties were project management and construction supervision, together with setting out, bar bending, formwork designing, preparing the method statement, organizing and controlling the site labor force, and obtaining the consultant’s approval for work execution.
Within this period, I have been involved in the consultancy supervision of multistoried building complexes and hostel buildings, including services such as chilled water air conditioning systems, firefighting systems, roof thermal insulation, and the supervision of 80 no. of bored cast in situ concrete piles of varying diameters of 450mm to 600mm. Further, I gained experience with the construction supervision of coastal protection structures such as rip rap, sea wall, groynes, and gabions, which were related to the fishery harbor together with the bus terminal, fishery administrative building, and pavilion at Tangalle and Beliatta, as well as investigation surveys, supervision of canal construction with hydraulic structures, and drilling investigations at Hambantota.
Executive MSc in Project Management 1 Year Program offered by GIPM Project Management Campus Sri Lanka, in partnership with AeU Malaysia. The AeU degrees have been popular in Sri Lanka over the last six to seven years and are approved by the University Grant Commission. GIPM Project Management Campus is the only Institute in Sri Lanka accredited to offer an Executive MSc in PM.
The University of Moratuwa consists of three Faculties namely, Architecture, Engineering, and Information Technology with nineteen (19) academic departments offering eleven (11) bachelor's degree programs to students selected by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and fifty-six (56) postgraduate programs together with MSc, Phil & Ph.D. research-based postgraduate degrees.
