Flight Operations Assistant - FOA
The Flight Operations Assistant -FOA is a qualified personnel might holding an Flight Operations Officer (FOO) if required by SCAA for his responsibility for operation control of each flight and assign the responsibility to carry out functions, duties or task to assist the Pilot in Command. Reports to: FLIGHT DISPATCH & CREW ROSTERING UNIT MANAGER 1.2.7.1Duties and responsibilities:
1. Assisting the PIC in flight preparation and providing required information. 2. Assisting the PIC in preparing the operation and ATS flight plan. 3. When applicable signing the operational and ATS flight plan. 4. Filling the ATS flight plan with the appropriate ATS unit. 5. Furnishing the PIC while in flight, with the appropriate information that may be necessary for the safe conduct of the flight. 6. In the event of an emergency, initiating relevant procedures as specified in NOVA Airways OM and ERP. 7. Discus with the commander operation condition of the flight and to ensure that all document, information and data necessary for the safe conduct of the flight are available with him, but only the PIC is responsible of the safe, efficient, planning and monitoring of an aircraft. 8. Liaison with flight crew and crew scheduling and keep them well informed and update with the status of flights. 9. Preparing and signing operational flight plan and ATS flight plan for each flight, at the outstations ATS may be prepared by the PIC. 10. Filing the ATS flight plan with the appropriate ATS unit. 11. Notification to the appropriate authorities, without delay, of the nature of the situation, at the outstations the Nova Airways station Manager or his representative shall contact the local Authority. 12. To request assistance if required. 13. Monitor weather, status of navigation aids within the areas of operation preparatory to planning flights. 14. Prepare navigation flight plans, fuel plans for all flights taking into consideration all factors of safety. 15. Ensure that flights are planned taking into account optimization of fuel, revenue, crew and aircraft utilization. 16. Provide a thorough pre-flight briefing crew all required information for the safe conduct of the flight, including deferred maintenance, weather and NOTAM briefing in the area of operation for each flight. 17. Assist Flight Dispatch & Crew Rostering Manager in maintaining the flight watch and in decision making by providing all the necessary information. 18. Keep all flight operations documents up to date. 19. To ensure that the utilized of the flight documents common set for each planned flight are the same as that utilize by PIC . 20. Monitor all communications and take appropriate action as necessary and maintain coordination with other departments and outstations 21. Assist in obtaining Landing and Over Flying permits from other countries for non-scheduled flights 22. Study all the NOTAMS and highlight those that have:  Effect on aircraft performance.  Effect on the time of operation of the flight.  On the company routes to the attention of the navigation section.  Analyze all the NOTAMS received directly through AFTN. 23. Monitor the changes in the schedule and amend flight watch sheet suitably.
24. Initiating accident notification in accordance with the Nova Airways Emergency Response Manual and maintaining a written log during the incident. 25. Considering crew feedback for the better safety and performance 26. Prepare and deliver the fuel order and distribution. 27. Provide ground handling parties with weight and fuel data. 28. Obtains a debriefing from incoming crew, distributing reports or complete form to office concerned.
29. In case of emergency event :
 Initiate emergency procedures as in company OM and ERP manuals.  Notify the concerned authorities as in company ERPM (NOV/SQ/ERPM/02 Issue 02 Rev.00 Dated Feb. 2013 Section (1) 1.6.  Requesting for any assistance if required.  .
