This internship at Sonatrach's CP2K petrochemical complex (polymed) was an opportunity to gain new experience in the petrochemical field: Production of high-density polyethylene using the PHILLIPS PETROLEUM COMPANY process
• The complex's various units (production, technical, safety, finance, etc.)
• Raw materials used (Ethylene, Isobutane, Hexene, Hydrogen, Catalyst)
• PF process steps :
• Raw materials processing.
• Activation and addition of catalyst.
• Polymerization in a loop reactor.
• Flash system and polymer drying.
• Purification and recovery of recycle gas.
• Finishing system.
• Bagging.
• Product quality control at laboratory level.
During this practical training period, I was given an overview of the site and its various
units. I gained a basic understanding of the separation process involved in the
production of naphtha, kerosene, LGO and HGO.
During this internship, I was able to take an interest in the technological process of an
Oxygen plant, where I developed knowledge and skills concerning the operation of the
various parts of the Oxygen plant, from the ambient air to the shipment of the various
products from this workshop.
In addition to enriching my knowledge in the field of energy, this internship enabled
me to understand the extent to which I'm passionate about this field, and will help me
make choices about my career direction
