• IBA Media (January 2011-February 2012): My job began as a news and features editor/writer for the magazine, in its print format, in addition to handling assignments and monthly coverage, working directly under the managing editor and chief editor, as part of a team of senior editors, and full-time reporters. A few months into the job, it evolved to include managing the web and social media presence of Egypt Today. Taking on the new role, I did continue to edit and provide content for both the print magazine as well as its online version. During my tenure at Egypt Today, I produced an in-depth investigative feature that in 2012 won the EU-sponsored (and prestigious) Samir Kassir Award for Best Investigative Feature for 2012.

During my time at Al-Masry Al-Youm English, I broke the story of the murder of several Church deacons in Naga Hamadi (I was the only reporter on site for two days when the incident happened - I lived tweeted, in addition to sending updates to Cairo around the clock). I also produced a 10-part special on Islamic societies in London universities, which I had reported in London, but published in Cairo.

Besides current affairs, I ran the travel section, including producing a massive series of stories (included features, blogposts, pictures and videos) about a road trip from Cairo down south to Shalateen, near the Sudanese borders. The series garnered significant readership.
