Projects - Clients Civil Construction, steel erection, infrastructure, facilities and general building works, and roadways for 2 Military airbase projects (client) in Abu-Dhabi.
Duties: Responsible for monitoring all project activities affecting the protection of the 2 airbases and their environment, and the Contractors' / Consultants' performance related thereto; monitoring the safety, health and welfare of the workers; and advising the project management on all such matters. Monitor and review the existing environmental status of all areas, structure, dwellings, facilities and other features which could be adversely affected by the Contractor's site activities. Participate in the Safety Committee. Monitor and report to the Project and Construction Managers any effects of the Contractors' construction activities on the physical and social environment, protection of flora and fauna, storm water management, dust and noise pollution control measures, the avoidance of damage or disturbance to the existing infrastructure, and the maintenance of good relation with local communities. Monitor the standards of sanitation and cleaning, security, fire control, and medical facilities provided by the contractor. Lead/participate in Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Project Health, Safety and Environmental review. Facilitate training and certification (via 3rd party) of contractor teams. Set the Division's HSE Objectives and targets and advise Management. Provide advice to project team on all related HSE issues throughout the project life from concept to commissioning. Carry out regular site visits to monitor the implementation of Construction related HSE issues. Carry out assessment for construction HSE Plan and recommend enhancement measures. Prepare and interpret HSE statistics and make recommendations to enhance performance. Provide specialist advice and guidance for project group.

Duties: Provision of Logistic - Project Safety Advise. Work Force/Plant/Machinery/Transport Safety Supervision and responsible for the entire Afghanistan region where Spectrum Group is operating. Managing locally and culturally diverse resources, developing basic Health and Safety culture and provide safety advice to workers in a form of tool box talk (training - assisted in translation). Education on PPE, Personal Hygiene and on good safety attitude in line with their job. Patience and Flexibility was a must to achieve results due to different culture, particular environment and language barrier with the unskilled workers.
