Co-ordinate the operations, management and provision of services in Avenue
Rescue Services (ARS) Nairobi and Kisumu
* Focus on all aspects of client relations; enhance customer satisfaction and the
public image / reputation of Avenue Rescue Services (ARS).
* Planning, Budgeting and marketing of ARS activities
* Identify and provide an enabling environment that allows for profitable and
efficient delivery of services that meet / exceed the expectations of our clients.
* Ensuring that Avenue Rescue Services and Avenue Group’s defined policies,
protocols, procedures and standards are adhered to at all levels of staff.
* Advise on occupational health and safety issues within the Avenue Group
* Liaise directly with the Medical Quality Manager on medical quality issues for
Avenue Rescue Services.
* Overseeing management/maintenance of group fleet including Ambulances
* Manages and conducts training of Emergency Medical Technicians, Basic life
support, Advanced Cardiac life Support and Occupational First Aid courses.

Based in Nairobi Kenya, and occasionally travelling on mission to the Countries in Africa,
worked with The World Bank Group as the Field Health Specialist covering East and
Southern Africa Region. Responsible for the Whole of the Africa region until June 2014
Main Duties included but not limited to:
* Assistance to patients in the Africa Region especially fragile states and conflict
states
* Coordination of care of chronic cases.
* Coordination of Medical evacuations into/out of country through International SOS
* Medication courier services
* Advisory role to the Country Office management, staff and dependants
* Administrative assistance to Regional Medical Advisors
* Expanding regional network of medical providers(Africa Region)
* Emergency medical response plans and Business continuity
* Health promotion activities and staff wellness programs
* Producing accurate records and reports.
* Responding quickly to medical emergencies and queries.
* Prioritizing a busy workload.
* Building a professional relationship with patients/staff and dependants.
* Assisting with Return to Work
* Coordinating with UNDP doctors globally

in the busiest accident & emergency department, and pediatric emergency
centre in the city of Nairobi Kenya, and in East and Central Africa region
Main Duties included but not limited to:
* Responding quickly to medical emergencies and queries.
* Attending to severely injured patients e.g. road traffic accidents & gunshot wounds
from the city suburbs, bandit prone areas like North Eastern Kenya & countries with
civil war like Somali and Sudan and wider east Africa.
* Stabilize the patient by performing life saving procedures like rapid sequence
intubation intraosseus, cannulation among others.
* Trainer in emergency courses like Emergency Triage assessment and Treatment
(ETAT+ by WHO), Advance life support, Incidence Command System, first aid and
Basic life support courses.
* Participated in emergency medical rescue operations around the country in
coordination with other emergency medical services (EMS) agencies.
* Management of common childhood diseases per the World Health Organization/
ministry of Health guidelines.
* Advice provincial hospitals country wide who need to refer patients and advised
them of the standard referral procedures and triage the patients.
* Continuous medical education in the hospital for staff, i.e. nurses and other
paramedical staff.
* Resuscitation using various drugs and equipments.
* EKG monitoring, defibrillation, pulse oximetry, use of infusion pumps, ventilators,
glucose meters etc.
* Patient and relatives health education
* Communication (On-line medical control) with VHF Radios to pre-hospital care
providers like St John Ambulance Red Cross on casualty information.
* Teamwork concept in the department as we worked towards achieving a common
goal.
* Preparation and admission of patient to ICU, burns unit and general wards.
Pre and Post OP care for clients going to Trauma Theatre (OR)
* Managing the recovery ward where patients are stabilized for minimum 6 hours and
maximum 24
* Treatment and discharge of out-patients, aseptic procedure in minor theatre.
* Team leading in the emergency department, Supervision of nurses and support staff
and decision making on day-to-day activities.
* Internal and external liaison with support units like security, central sterile supplies
department, police/law enforcement, customer care referring hospitals and
agencies as well as insurance firms.
* Ordering or supplies stores and drugs and organizing duty roster for nurses.
* Good documentation and record keeping.
* Involved in various research projects, data collection, analysis and report writing
within the hospital.
