Consultant - Provided consulting services for several marinas in Central America assisting developers with practical and professional solutions to the challenges of functional site planning, construction and ongoing
maintenance and operation of marinas and support service facilities. The advice and focus is to allow
owner/developers the best options available during the design or operation phases to increase the operational
suitability of all elements to create long-term success of the project and its revenue producing amenities using
proven industry standards.
Responsible for complete operational start up and ongoing facility management of this planned 300 wet slip (currently 100 slips), 96 dry storage and boatyard including creating and implementing the business plan, budgeting, policies, procedures, creating operational manuals and protocols, training, procurement, inventory control, government compliance and oversight of all profit centers and daily functions. Ongoing participation in the development processes, design and identification of the amenity use mix and service centers for the project to provide for International Standards for marine related elements.
Responsible for various permitting, government compliance and processes directly related to the marina opening (currently executing 2nd phase) and continuing operation.
THE NINE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT - Jaco, Costa Rica ( 2/2007 - 1/2009)
Project Manager - Managed all construction elements to complete Boutique Hotel - restaurant. Duties included 40% renovation and 60% new construction of this small upscale hotel. Installed all new systems including electrical, potable water system, gas, central telephone, cable TV, POS stations, security cameras, dummy waiters and handicap elevator. The 1300 meters of construction included a five star 30 seat restaurant, 20 seat VIP lounge and 14 rooms with three master suites. Consulted on and managed hotel operations and logistics for owner while seeking a qualified operations manager.
HOTEL POSEIDON AND RESTAURANT - Jaco, Costa Rica (5/2005 - 2/2007)
General Manager - Responsible for assisting owners in all departments of operation of this Boutique Hotel. Duties included day management of the hotel, restaurant, sports bar, personnel training and management, oversight of profit centers, inventory control, purchasing, maintenance and contract management of renovations and guest services. All other duties necessary to provide owners and guests with the highest of quality service and management.
LOS SUENOS RESORT AND MARINA, Herradura, Costa Rica (1/2000 - 4/2002)
Marina Director - Marina Los Suenos - Responsible for managing a full service state of the art marina facility through many phases of construction and operational start-up in a new as well as foreign market. Coordinated with the development team in many facets of marina planning, design, construction, logistics, operations and administration to allow for best end user service and sustainability. Executed all areas of field marine construction and administration with native Central American labor while meeting all schedules and maintaining quality as well and cost efficiency. Coordinated with Costa Rican regulatory agencies to comply with laws and guidelines governing marina concessions. Managed entire marina operation including fixed breakwater fortification and maintenance, piling and dock system fabrication, assembly and installation, production management, contract management, purchasing, inventory control, logistics, marina maintenance, business administration, marina services and personnel management. The marina owner enjoyed a 97% occupancy in the season of 2001, its second season. With 200 slips Los Suenos Marina is the first government sanctioned official recreational port of entry in Costa Rica.

Harbormaster - Gulf Harbour Yacht and Country Club - Ft. Myers, Florida
Managed the marina facility through the construction and operational start-up phases, including upland design and planning of the marina office, ships store, tennis facility and other profit centers. Operational
responsibilities included the maintenance and administration management of the 200 slip marina facility,
administration of, and adherence to, environmental guidelines, budgeting, bidding, buying, merchandising and inventory control of the ships store. Oversaw the maintenance and operation of the 82' corporate yacht. Founder of the Gulf Harbour Yacht Club and Marina Committee to provide organized boating activities resulting in superior customer service to the marinas members and guests. Managed Gulf Harbour Marina at 100%
occupancy with a waiting list.
Assistant Harbormaster - Burnt Store Marina and Country Club - Punta Gorda, Florida
Co-managed all areas of the full service marina operation, including 470 slips, 200 dry storage bays and maintenance functions. The marina facility was a traditional rustic style fixed wooden dock marina.
Accountable for co-management and facility renovations while preparing for the Gulf Harbour Marina start up during this assignment.

Able Seaman and relief Third Officer - Worked on foreign voyages to various ports on unlimited tonnage ships under contract at the Boston, Massachusetts's office. Logged time on tankers, freighters, roll on roll off and research vessels. Duties included watch standing on the bridge as Officer of the watch or AB of the watch. Also responsible for ships damage control equipment, deck maintenance, emergency readiness of equipment and personnel, and cargo operations in port. Received the Merchant Marine Distinguished Service Metal for service in the Gulf War. Also worked part time for Casco Bay Lines Ferry Service and Longfellow Cruise Line when not shipping.
